The vets I called made it seem like it was out of the question. Most of the sources online said get them fixed before they’re middle aged. Definitely agree, I just didn’t have an option with him aha. Thanks!!

The local rescues have neutered rabbits much older than 6, I believe they recently neutered an 8 year old? As long as he is otherwise healthy and the vet is rabbit savvy, neutering him will be very low risk. My girl was spayed a few months ago, she’s 6 too, and spays are more invasive and higher-risk than neuters.

Six is not too old if he is in good health otherwise. I would keep calling different vets. If they are rabbit savvy and do lots of neuters it should not be a problem.

Rabbits should be going to exotic vets, not dog/cat vets. Some veterinary practices have both “traditional” vets and exotic vets together, so you’ll see all types of animal clientele going in. I’ve noticed slightly darker poops with orchard vs. stemmy timothy. Oat hay always gives my buns very light poops. As long as they aren’t smelly and mushy inside, and she’s eating plenty of hay I think you are in good shape. 🙂

Sometimes vet will quote a very high price for simple procedures like a bunny neuter, just to not have to perform any procedure on a rabbit.
