He’s so gorgeous! His coloring reminds me of a grulla horse. Happy gotcha day Dorian. ❤️

Thanks Wick, looks like I got the numbering backward, sorry!  1st cut of your description fits perfectly. I have been pretty happy with standlee hay that I have gotten as it is always fresher than the times I tried SPS (and a lot cheaper), but they don’t specify cuts. Maybe since all I want is a little extra of the softer grasses to mix in, I’ll…[Read more]

Thanks @Louiethebunny I feel you adopted Louie close to this time too? Maybe a couple months earlier? Hope both of them are doing well! (& you too)

Every hay provider will naturally have fluctuation in quality. If you know your rabbit enjoys/does not enjoy certain cuts of timothy hay, going with a provider that “locks in” the cut you get is beneficial, like SPS, so you know at least you’re always getting soft leaves or hard stems, depending on the cut you choose. 1st cut is actually the cut…[Read more]

If you notice when she produces cecotropes you can try offering them to her. Or you can take the cone one while you are supervising her and only put it on if you see her messing with her suture.

Just realized Dorian’s been living with us for a full year now! Can’t believe it’s been that long!! So here is a photo of him a few days before I took him home from the shelter and one from yesterday where we had a little bun party for him after he got tired out from playing with his new toys. Also since I am a proud bun parent I just want to add…[Read more]

My rabbit also has poops like that sometimes!!! For him it seems to happen after little episodes of gas. Maybe Pinky’s eating something that makes him gassy, or maybe he’s just prone to gas like my bun? Either way, it makes me feel better that this doesn’t only happen to my bunny once in a while!!

Yes, its a good idea to check once in a while, but it’s up to you if you want to clean them regularly. Some bunnies keep them very clean without the help of humans. It’s definitely not a pleasant job, but if it needs to be done, then it needs to be done.

Okay thank you. I’ve never looked at their scent glands before. I know that some people routinely clean them. I don’t really know if that’s necessary unless they’ve got an issue though. Pinky can be pretty squirmy too lol.

Thanks guys. I think it was just a normal estimate for them. If he needs it done I can look into a different vet who’d do it for less. It’s hard to find rabbit vets in my area though. :/

I have been buying online from a hay provider on amazon (not sure it’s with in forum rules to give name) and the last few boxes have been great… this last one however not great, though not technically bad as it smells fresh, it is just very very stemmy, I think it might be what is called 3rd cutting. On the plus it looks like it be very high…[Read more]

That is very expensive for a teeth filing. Google tells me that’s around $640 USD, which is triple what I have paid at my vets, who tend to be on the more expensive side due to my location.

I see the hospitalization as something really hiking up the price (the $94), because if it’s just a filing, your rabbit should not need to stay overnight (in…[Read more]

I consider 4×4 of those grids to still be relatively small (assuming they are about 1 ft long?). By large I mean like 2 x-pens linked up or a whole room.

But if they are doing well in small space then they might just need more time.

That seems very expensive for a teeth filing (usually they are closer to $300), but if he needs an extraction or abscess treatment that’s more normal. But I don’t think he would? Was that supposed to be an extreme high estimate?

If there is a problem, I think it would be pretty obvious. His scent glands would be full and sometimes the gunk gets hard.

Cilantro is a good one for low calcium.
