Bu20055 started the topic Are all varieties of lettuce (apart from iceberg) safe? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 10 months ago
Hi guys!
I’m looking into starting a mini indoor bunny garden for the wintertime, because the quality of veggies from the grocery store is already majorly decreasing 🙁. I’m looking at a local plant nursery, and they’ve got a ton of neat-looking lettuce varieties, many that I’ve never heard of before. So I’m wondering, are all varieties…[Read more]

Thank you so much! I can’t imagine why he’d be stressed :/ he’s extremely spoiled lol but yes I’m anxious to see what the vet says.

How do I stop my rabbit from digging up the grass? My two rabbits have a bunny run that they share in which I purchase sod to place in the bunny run. One bunny keeps digging up the sod. How do I stop the behavior? Or what can I use for a substitute in place of the sod? Will they still dig if I was to place pebbles there?

Agree with Wick 100%. Definitely don’t allow any interaction until they are both castrated. Mating can occur in a flash. Also don’t underestimate how hard he will try to get to her… he will likely try very hard! So make sure their areas are very secure.

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁 It sounds like something very serious was wrong, so please don’t beat yourself up.

A lot (maybe most) bunnies have a low level of mites that never cause problems. Then sometimes they have a flair up, possibly due to stress or other impacts on the immune system.
It could also be an ear infection. Either way the vet should be able to straighten things out easily. 🙂

It sounds like, at this time, neither of them are fixed, in which case you should not let them out together to avoid unexpected pregnancies. It does not take long and rabbits are very wired to mate and protect, so you want to make sure they are separated while both are not fixed.
There is a hormonal spike following a neuter, and typically it’s…[Read more]

Kitty and the Buns replied to the topic Should I bond my spayed female rabbit with my new intact male bunny? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 10 months ago
You can attempt… it’s a lot of work though. I think I was only lucky because my spayed flemmie has a generally good tempermant. After multiple sessions of car bonding, they finally got along. Very risky and LOTS of supervision or working around stuff.

Anyone have experience or tips on bonding a neutered buck and intact doe?
My flemmie recently passed, and I am getting another female soon. However, Milo is getting neutered in December and Mochi will be spayed in Janurary. They will be kept separated obviously. But would they get along if they spend supervise time together outside of their x…[Read more]

I’m unable to find out the reason, we fed him critical care before taking to vet as we know he will be stressed and won’t eat for sometime after coming from clinic. He had fever & we got shots for it , that’s it after coming home he didn’t eat anything , whole night he was roaming around the room, we tried many ways to feed him but no use, the…[Read more]

Yes, I looked at it closer and it was a small field mouse. It had seemingly been dead for a while and I buy my hay from a farm so I think it’s was just in the bale when I bought it.

Definitely get rid of the beds (at least temporarily). Some bunnies just cannot have soft things. Luckily most bunnies actually like laying on hard surfaces.
I think I would try confining them to a smaller space or their pen at night for a while and see if that helps. Are the poops scattered around in piles or singles? If singles that indicates…[Read more]

@kanin, looked up grulla horse and they are very pretty! I can certainly see a bit of a similar pattern. Some even had the white feet!
Thanks everyone for the congrats 🙂 When I went to the shelter that day I was really just looking, my original intention was to get two larger and older buns, but sometimes a bun picks you and I have zero regrets.

It looks like a mouse. Could it have come with the hay? These things happen occasionally, surprisingly not very often though.

I don’t have a car, so that makes local a little harder… I may try and look into it though and rent one for the day in the future, being able to see the hay when I buy it would make a huge difference. I ended up getting a smaller order of SPS, hoping I can then just mix it in and with the batch I have. But Thank you everyone for…[Read more]

My bunny Pinky shook his head and itched his ears a lot when I adopted him. The vet used a microscope and saw ear mites. He was treated with revolution and has gotten better.
Maybe it’s early ear mites? Maybe too deep to be able to see with just your eyes. I’ve seen some people say that they can get loose fur stuck in their ear from shedding tha…[Read more]

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>It looks fuzzy to me. Is it some kind of small animal that snuck in and died? Or does it look like one of the bunnies fur? Maybe a part of a plushie? I would put gloves on and pick it up to get a closer look. Very strange.</p>

My eyes are a little messed up, but that looks like a mouse or other small rodent to me? If it is, it could have crawled in there and one of the bunnies hit it or something? Or it could have possibly been in the hay?
