@prince dorian the bun: You need to share more pictures now ๐Ÿ˜€

Lol, I’ll try but it’s not going to be a piece of cake! Binkie’s so camera shy, it’s unbelievable. I’m going to have to use some treats to get her to pose for you guys. ๐Ÿ˜›

Of course you can try ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Might still be easiest to take a break from her being on the bed until after she’s spayed to make sure the behavior doesn’t get too entrenched.

Hi, I have two bunnies, a male and female, who are both neutered and potty trained. They are also both free roam and live inside with our pit Bull and often go out in the garden. Recently, we did some renovations to our house so certain areas are now off limits to the buns and dog. Both of the rabbits also used to sleep on the bed with my partner…[Read more]

I think she just does it for a week or so while they get back on track.

I really don’t want to limit her access to my bed, so is there a way where I could train her to stop digging? For instance, getting her a dig box, and when I see her digging on the bed, I say “no” and place her in the dig box? When she starts digging in the box (and leaves the bed alone) then I praise her and reward her with a treat? I’ve seen…[Read more]

@DanaNM Thatโ€™s really interesting! I can see if that helps after I see the vet. Iโ€™m glad that itโ€™s helped other bunnies. Would you have to keep feeding them alfalfa hay everyday? Or maybe just when it flares up? Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

I just had an interesting conversation about cecal dysbiosis and general cecal dysfunction with one of the leads at the rescue.

Apparently, her go-to for when a rabbit is having cecal issues that aren’t fixed via other means is to give them some alfalfa hay (like a large handful a day, not a ton). She said usually within a day the bun or too…[Read more]

Well there is no need to rush into it if you are having doubts!ย  I am always a fan of bonded pairs but it is definitely not a decision to undertake lightly! Why not wait a bit and think it over? Proper housing is important during bonding, as even when you don’t need to wait for spaying it can take several weeks (or ever a few months in very tough…[Read more]

I understand the hormone thing.ย  I just keep second guessing and wondering if it’s a bad decision overall to try to bond another rabbit with him.ย  He is happy and healthy, but I always hear rabbits are better in pairs.ย  However I have now just read that Flemish giants are better off by themselves…not sure if this is true or not.ย  I just want to…[Read more]

Thank you everyone! Although it has only been a day, I am seeing some improvement. I mostly interacted with her beside her cage yesterday and she was super sweet all day. To test the waters, I let her out a bit today and she is no longer chasing me–just coming up for pets and strangely enough acting like she wants to be held in my lap! haha!

DanaNM replied to the topic To Shave or Not to Shave in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 10 months ago

A sanitary shave could help him get back on track with his grooming. I think sometimes when they get matted it just overwhelms the poor bun. Plus having waste stuck on puts them at risk for fly strike etc.

They also might be able to help address whether there is an underlying medical problem that is preventing him from grooming properly (maybe a…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Should I separate my two rabbits that have snuffles? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 10 months ago

I don’t think you should separate them. It would be very stressful for them and would hurt their recovery. Plus they have both already been exposed to the infection, so I don’t see a benefit to separating.

Once she is spayed, you will most likely be able to bond them. It’s very rare for pairs to be completely unbondable.

I think Wick was trying to say it would be very challenging to bond her before she is spayed, or at least very risky. The concern is usually that all goes fine until the female hits puberty, and then her hormones can trigger…[Read more]
