I have a little digger/chewer, so for me cheaper seagrass mats & cardboard it is. I could see puzzle mats destroyed in minutes, but your mileage will vary! I found some seagrass mats with heavy rubber non slip backing on amazon and they have been wonderful. The grass is tightly woven so he barely makes a dent in it and can not get to the backing.…[Read more]

Aw yeah, you might try adding a nice fluffy hay layer on top of the wire grate to see if that helps as well. But if they are covered by fur they are more likely to be calluses. Doesn’t mean should wouldn’t appreciate a softer screen though. 🙂

Another forum moderator, Wick, uses these softer plastic meshes for her buns’ litter boxes. I think they…[Read more]

sorry to hear about the vet experience, I had something like that with an elderly cat. My solution was to make sure I never dealt with that vet again, mind you that can be easier with cats and dogs if you have limited vets available. But if you have a choice don’t be scared to voice a preference.

Aging is a hard process, you are likely going to…[Read more]

Yup, you’re correct, I had to move the fur to see it! In fact, I only found them because I was looking for them. Those are both pictures of the same foot, the other little pink area is even smaller than that one, so I took a picture of the one that looked the biggest and most concerning to me. The vet prescribed a scar healing cream, and suggested…[Read more]

usually the quantity in these mixes of mizuna is pretty low too, so I totally agree with @DanaNM. Even a few spinach leaves are not going to hurt your bun unless they are sensitive. From everything I have read making sure you have a good variety is the best course of action as then you get a more balanced nutritional profile and is closer to what…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Attempted trio/quad now two pairs- Myra, Bun Jovi, Bonnie, and Cooper in the forum BONDING 5 years, 9 months ago

Just a small update here! We have finally set our move date for Dec 5. I haven’t been doing any bonding sessions with my three, just side swaps every day or two, which have been uneventful. They have all been spending lots of time laying near each other.

Copper got neutered finally… so I am going to take Bonnie on a date with him today (I…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Should I get my female rabbit neutered? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 9 months ago

I definitely recommend spaying females (neutering is the term used for castrating males). In male rabbits, neutering is mostly done for behavioral reasons, but in females, the rates of reproductive cancer are quite high, around 75% by age 6, and then it just keeps going up as they age. So the life expectancy for unspayed females is about half that…[Read more]

Hi! I know this is kind of old but I feel like I can contribute to this if you are still deciding. Puzzle play mats, personally, don’t work alone for me. I had them for my two bunnies, and within the first two weeks they ate three entire tiles. They sort of dig in from the top and rip it apart. Then, when they used their litter box, they missed…[Read more]

I adopted a 4 year old female fuzzy lop about 4 months ago. The lady who was fostering her said she wasn’t neutered and didn’t recommend it because she’s heard lots of stories about rabbits dying during the surgery.

However, I have also read about the risks of not neutering them..

Is the risk of dying in surgery smaller than the risk of dying…[Read more]

I think it’s fine!  Veggies with high calcium and oxalate are fine to feed in rotation, and even one week of maybe too much of one thing isn’t the end of the world, it’s more of a cumulative thing.

Since arugula is low oxalate and the mizuna is higher, that’s still only 1 high oxalate veg, so that’s a good combo. Mustard greens/mizuna are also…[Read more]

I adopted a 4yr old fuzzy lop named Leah about 4 months ago! She’s super healthy and happy and she’s already gotten pretty comfortable with me. I recently started working another job and found that I’m not home as much now.

I was thinking about getting her a companion so she isn’t as lonely. That being said she’s pretty territorial so I don’t…[Read more]

It looks more like calluses to me, but something to keep an eye on. It looks like you had to move the fur away to see it? If that’s the case, that’s def more indicative of a callus. Does she thump a lot? It looks like maybe a little red on the edge of one?

Thanks. LBJ, that makes me feel better.

The vet did say she thinks the ear drum is ruptured, there’s a lot of puss visible and it sounds like it wouldn’t be if the eardrum was intact. My poor baby. So it sounds like we are going down a normal treatment route.
