Thank you so much for the response! He does have a bit too much are to roam. We have tried limiting him, but he picks up right where he left off when we try to reintroduce him to more space. The pet enzyme cleaner is a great call! Also we gave him a second litter box and it has reduced some of the carpet spots.

It’s because they’ve reached puberty. Unfortunately you’ll need to separate them till after they are spayed and their hormones settled down, then you can work on re-bonding them. Sometimes buns can stay together if they get spayed/neutered before the hormones kick in, but it’s very common for this to happen.

Hi everyone! I have two rabbits, Sage and Chicory, who are sisters from the same litter. Neither are spayed yet, although we are working with the vet to begin that process. They are four months old next week. They used to be the best of friends, until lately. A lot of humping has been happening between them, but the first full on fight was this…[Read more]

Well, my hare-brained half-deranged scheming seems to be working!
We scooped up all four buns (Copper AKA Dale Cooper, Bun Jovi, Myra, Bonnie) into a big carrier and drove from Santa Barbara to Escondido. It was about 3 hours and they were great in the carrier, mostly all snuggled up together with Coop in the center.
Currently have them in a…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Reddish pee in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 9 months ago
Orange-reddish pee is most often due to plant pigments in the diet. It is harmless and not a sign of illness or poor kidney function. Many green plants have a good amount of carotenoids in them, for example dandelion greens.
Rabbits can also produce reddish pee spontaneously, but its still not a sign of a problem.
Calcium in the pee shows up as…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Yogurt drops? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 9 months ago
Yoghurt drops are not good, but a small amount for an otherwise healthy bun won’t cause significant damage. Dairy is not recommended for buns that have been weaned, and the drops contain sugar. Of course if a bun is feed yoghurt drops often, it can be a health hazard, especially if the bun gets to fill up on treats so it doesn’t eat enough hay.

I’ve had my rabbit for a little over 4 years, and by far, her favorite treats are yogurt drops. Today I was doing some further research about how many vitamins rabbits should and shouldn’t have (I’ve been trying to keep her diet as healthy as I can). But I randomly stumbled across several articles stating rabbits should not eat yogurt drops and…[Read more]

Congratulations on your new bun!! She is super cute!
It is a bit unusual for buns to be very social and outgoing after just 2 days in a new home, but its not a sign of anything bad. The bun I have now needed 4-5 days, which is also a short time. It is lovely when a bun wants to be pet and hang out with their human!
Fearful rabbits tend to lunge…[Read more]

Ever since I got my rabbit, his pee has always varied from normal yellow to a reddish/orange color. My friend told me it was fine as long as there’s no blood, which there isn’t, and I did some googling so I figured it was fine.
I guess I just want to confirm that this is normal. I called the rabbit-savvy vet near me to schedule his first vet…[Read more]
