How are your bunnies doing now? Have you been able to get them hay?

Hi all! I don’t know if anyone would check this now but wanted to update just in case since my two seem a bit of an unusual bonded pair. After those posts in July I’ve never had to separate Elmer and Ruby. Ruby charges him sometimes while I’m getting their treats but he ignores her, and sometimes they fight over the last crumbs of the treats if…[Read more]

In my case where my first rabbit (Wick) was free-roam for 3 years, I used the bathroom as neutral space. It was actually @DanaNM who helped convince me on it, haha. We both now have had several day/week experiences of especially cramped bathrooms because there was a pen set up in it.

I’m gonna try everything I can but I am worried about the neutral space thing cuz my first bunny is a free roam and I’ve had her this way about 3 years. She has a room to herself and gets supervised access to our living room and basement. The goal is to get both bunnies spayed, bring the other one home and then have them living in the same room.…[Read more]

Non-sporting breeds?

I found a recipe a while ago by searching up “at home bunny treats”. I basically put some pellets and oats in my food processer and then add in fruits and veggies. I usually add banana because it makes the mixture easy to mold. I then mold them into shapes and place em on a cookie sheet to bake for a while and then to dry overnight. The bunnies love them!

This is not an urgent thread or anything that needed a real response, but I figured I could make a post anyway. Does anyone know of dog breeds that are known to do well around other animals like rabbits? We know to stay away from dogs that have instinctually high prey drives. We are trying to adopt so we are not super breed-specific and we are…[Read more]

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>I have romaine lettuce! The stores near me close in a few minutes, I wont be able to make it in time. They are chewing on romaine. I take them out a few times during the day to get excercise, and right now they are junping & doing binky’s like usually! I think they will do fine until tommorow morning. I will moniter…[Read more]

She works mainly with dogs and cats but is also certified for bunnies. The vet checked his teeth, ears, etc. and said everything else looked good. I made sure she knew he was acting normal other than grinding his teeth. She definitely saw a mass in his stomach on the x-ray, and she said it was most likely GI stasis and to get back to her if things…[Read more]

They need something right away. Do you have any greens? Is there grass outside you can pick for them? Bunnies that young really aren’t supposed to be eating much greens but it’s better than stasis. They have to have at least hay available at all times and this could cause them to become very sick.

Yes that is really unusual! Maybe a mis-communication with the vet? Are they rabbit savvy?
Were his teeth checked?

It is very important that they have food, especially at their age… and since it has now been over 24 hours if I read that correctly. Rabbits can develop a build up of toxins in their liver if they don’t eat for more than 12 hours, and bunnies that young could starve. Not sure where you are or what time it is where you are, but they really need food ASAP.

Yeah, he’s pooping and eating normally. He was even before the appointment, which is why the diagnosis confused me. I bought him some Oxbow digestive support treats, so hopefully that will be enough for now along with his regular diet. Thank you so much!
