Thank you both! I actually just got the poop out a few minutes ago by holding him with one hand. The poop isn’t melty or anything, it’s just sticky. He eats baby pellets and a mix of alfalfa and timothy hay.

I would call the vet who did the neuter as soon as you can and let them know what you see. It’s a small image, but it looks like a gash has been open? It’s recommended that after a neuter, the rabbit should be given some restricted space and discouraged to zoomie or do a lot of activity because it can strain the surgical site for at least one…[Read more]

Agree with Bam, try not to trance if you can.
What is his diet like? Just asking in case he’s getting something that’s causing too many cecotropes.

My little guy was neautered on December 23rd (8 days ago). He isn’t acting any different, still eating great and doing his zoomies, which I thought meant he was healing fine but then noticed this yesterday. Any advice? 🥺 -

I definitely think she is more relaxed in general than the male (the male is high energy). It’s tough because I don’t know what her personality was at the shelter or beforehand, but I kind of took her first few days as her general “baseline” in terms of energy level. Already, she tends to lounge all day and even in the morning/evening to a d…[Read more]

It can be very stressful for a bun to be tranced, so its best avoided.
Its better if you can sit him in your lap and massage cornstarch into the poopy fur with one hand. Some of the poop can be picked out when it has absorbed the starch, the rest you can probably brush out. You can also cut off pieces of poop fur, but take care not to cut too…[Read more]

Hi! My rabbit has a poopy bum. He is my first rabbit and 8 weeks old. He has a lot of cecotropes stuck in his fur. I read on the internet that you can use baby cornstarch powder to loosen the debris and comb it out. I tried putting him on his back today to try and keep him still but he kept struggling. How long can rabbits stay in a trance and how…[Read more]

That sounds like pretty much bonded pair behavior to me 🙂
If it seems like Khushi is preventing Yujin from using the box, you might need a larger box or two boxes. Some pairs do well with boxes side by side.
You can try a little banana on their heads to encourage grooming, sometimes that seems to “break the ice’ with grooming.

DanaNM replied to the topic rabbit chewing on wood pellets in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 8 months ago
Yep that’s nothing to worry about. If he was eating a lot of them I would be worried that something was up with his diet and maybe he was craving fiber, but just chewing a few pieces is fine.

I came into my rabbit’s room this morning to see that he somehow got over the fence blocking off the rabbit supplies 😬 He ripped a hole into a bag of wood pellet bedding and I found him chewing on some pieces.
Should I be worried about him eating it? It was a new 30lb bag I bought from a nearby feed store. The bag says it’s 100% wood with no…[Read more]

They have been doing the 24/7 bonding method, so haven’t been separated at all and are on Day 9. So when there’s unmet grooming requests from Khushi to Yujin, Khushi just proceeds to smoothing himself against Yujin and flopping. If Yujin asks for grooming and nothing happens he doesn’t do anything and just stays put.
They do seem relaxed around…[Read more]

Hm, under the assumption there is no underlying condition, it’s possible maybe she is just a more relaxed and chill rabbit? Especially during the daytime hours, my rabbits tend to lounge all day. It is a new environment and they are individually adjusting to your routine, so when she decides to sleep, recharge, and be energetic may be naturally…[Read more]

I also want to highlight what Dana mentioned, which is some pairs are good friends that you do not actually observe a lot of reciprocal, frequent grooming. Outside of infrequent grooming, are there signs of tension in interactions?

DanaNM replied to the topic Not much grooming happening in the forum BONDING 5 years, 8 months ago
Hmmm, remind me how long they have been bonded? Or in the bonding process? What happens with unmet grooming requests? Sometimes mine will just smush their faces together to ask for grooms and then fall asleep like that, even though nobody groomed. 🙂
Not all couples groom constantly. Some seem like they are good friends but not madly in love. Do…[Read more]

Agree with jersey, I don’t think it would be harmful if it’s just used topically on you.

Oh dear, I would be very upset with that friend too. It is amazing rabbits can do when they feel like it. I’ve never had issues with buns escaping except when they want to “get at” each other. Then they can leap to ridiculous heights!
I’m not sure if the age cap means they cannot get pregnant past that age, it could also be the maximum age where…[Read more]
