All I know about his past is he was raised in a wire bottom hutch with many other rabbits. He was free, because he was fighting all the other rabbits. I’ve seen no agression! He’s got a spot he “staked out” that I furnished with a bankie and a hide n some toys. He spends more time out there than in his main house.

Oh, no no no, he LOVES to be petted. He especially loves butt rubs. Lol He comes when I call him (unless he’s grooming).

My issue, really, is to get him to cuddle, like BE IN MY ARMS to do things like clip his nails.

I know this is a task I must do, but I don’t want to shatter our trust.

Technically his “house” is just a cardboard box that has…[Read more]

So, not all rabbits are cuddle buns, but I think you could for sure improve your relationship. I think shy buns can be some of the most rewarding, because you really feel like you earn their trust. I’m sure he’s very cute so I don’t blame you for “overloving”. 😉 How long have you had him?  Some bunnies take a while to open up. Members here have…[Read more]

Soooooo…… I’m disabled. I don’t walk well and due to a fire I have severe COPD. I searched high and low for an ESA. Dogs, cats, ferrets….. And then one magical day I was on Craigslist Pets and saw the cutest critter I could ever imagine! He’s a lionhead mix harlequin coat male bunny I’ve named Cinnabunny. Not very original, I suppose, but he…[Read more]

This is a safe space LOL

OK so I saw this think where people made felted crafts out of cat fur… it sounded gross to me but it actually was kind of cute in the end…. they made tiny cat finger puppets out of their cats fur. Perhaps you could do something like that?? If you look up “cat fur felting” you get lots of results!

So yeah, I’m that type of bunny owner that keeps the fur from brushing the bunnies… I just love them okay! I’ve been thinking about buying or making bunny plushies that look like Pinky and Muffin, then putting the fur I’ve collected into their own plushies. Just so I can have a piece of them furever. 🥺 I’ve been looking at bunny plushies on Etsy…[Read more]

Yes when things go badly in a new location, it usually means you just moved too quickly. So going back to the place where things went well and extending the time usually does the trick!

I have had the exact same issues! We started in the bathroom and bonding went great, lots of mutual grooming, flops and snacking together. After several bathroom successes, we moved to the kitchen where we spent a few 1-2 hour stretches and again, did wonderfully. Then I tried allowing them to free roam together in the living room and within 5…[Read more]

You know what’s best for your buns. I don’t think there is shame in rehoming as long as you make sure she finds a good home.

The HRS has some tips for rehoming: https://rabbit.org/rabbit-center/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Rehome-handout.pdf

I recommend explaining the importance of spaying to whoever adopts her. You also might look into rescues in…[Read more]

I’m very sorry to hear this. I don’t have much to add to what Bam said, just wanted to send some vibes for Cookie. Abscesses are so hard to deal with. 🙁

Yep you should be all good to use that CC. Glad he started eating on his own. 🙂

For his recovering, keeping his area warm and quiet will help him. Keep up with the syringe feeding and medication schedule your vet recommends, but other than that try not to hover too much. You can also offer favorite greens to entice him to eat as well.

DanaNM replied to the topic Issues with hay in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 7 months ago

Hmm that is a bit unusual. Are you positive he’s actually eating it? Dental issue buns can sometimes pick up hay and then drop it. Or perhaps he’s having trouble picking it up off the floor as Wick suggested.

Ruling out dental issues, could you chose to use the “floor hay” as bedding in the litter box so at least it serves some purpose?

DanaNM replied to the topic large poop in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 7 months ago

    Can you post a picture?

Is she molting? Sometimes a bit of stress can cause a couple poops to get stuck together and come out as one big one. But if they are overall back to normal then it’s nothing to worry about.

DanaNM replied to the topic Stasis Question in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago

My vet (who is extremely knowledgeable) does not always do motility drugs. Often pain meds and syringe feeding are enough to get things on track. They can usually tell if parts of the gut have completely shut down and use motility meds then. To me it sounds like your first vet might have over-medicated to cover all the bases (since they gave an…[Read more]

thank you so much! but i feel like they’re really big for bunny poop since they aren’t just like a bit bigger than her normal ones. they seem really big but i only found 2 so far.

Generally, larger poops are a great sign. Given she’s a lionhead, it could be filled with fur, so it is larger than usual. A couple larger poops are nothing to be alarmed about, as long as the other poops are healthy as well.
