Thank you for the reply Dana :). So it’s been a little over 24hrs since their last bad bonding session. No bunny was badly injured, just hair pulled and the lop has a scratch mark on his skin we are watching but it’s healing good.
At this point I’m thinking of taking all 3 on a car ride – or both males, on a car ride them switching the home…[Read more]

When they were babies I didn’t, but I gave them a LOT more than they get now as adults plus of course hay and salads once they were old enough. Since she’s only 4 months it shouldn’t hurt her to have a bowl of pellets out for a couple more months, then you can reassess what whether she needs to start cutting back and eat more hay.

You can clean the hutch with the hutch cleaner (check the ingredient-list, some cleaners that contain pesticides can require very good airing out before the hutch is lived in). I cleaned my buns living area with (hand-) dishwashing liquid and water and vinegar.
The most important thing is to treat the bun with Revolution repeatedly. Repeat…[Read more]

My 14 week old mini lops ears always had thinner hair than the rest of her coat which is lush and glossy, but I noticed the ears becoming a bit dry and was concerned for a week or so now
today when snuggling (I give her little massages and part her fur in the process) I noticed some dandruff, nothing crazy, however then parted her fur to check…[Read more]

It doesn’t let me upload a pic of the bunny room, oh well. I have seen people use those concrete building tubes as tunnels on Facebook, but it was too late since I had already bought a big cat tunnel. I live in New York, so I’ll have to see if I can find anything (safe) outside!
I originally planned on letting him roam the room during the day and…[Read more]

Yes that sounds like the right weight for a Dutch but that’s definitely bigger than a dwarf. Dwarf rabbits are usually going to be less than 1kg full grown so keep in mind that if you were reading about the amount of food needed for a dwarf she’ll probably need more than that.

I’m so sorry. Unfortunately rabbits like to hide when they’re sick so we don’t know if they need help. You knew what to look out for and you did everything you were supposed to.

I think structural changes are a good idea! My buns really like tunnels. I am currently in a similar situation, where I’m staying with my in-laws with 4 rabbits (AHH!), so the buns are in a room vs. having more of the house to roam in. To keep things interesting, I got some concrete building forms and made a cross shaped tunnel that they have been…[Read more]

It sounds like it’s going quite well to me!
Sometimes they will groom in preparation to mount, so that sounds like what’s going on here. A little fur might be pulled when they mount as well. Just keep doing as you have been! If he reverse mounts, you can try spin him around so he’s in the correct position. I usually don’t stop regular mounting…[Read more]

Update:
1/23/21 – Later in the evening we did a second session in the bathtub (30 min) because the buns seemed chill – it started well, Alfredo was grooming Theo enthusiastically, and Theo turned into a loaf because he was comfortable. We put some banana on top of their heads, and finally got Theo to “groom” Alfredo a bit. Alfredo then mounted…[Read more]

It sounds like you were monitoring the health behaviors you should have been, and if something happens even when those behaviors are present, as LBJ mentions, it was likely something beyond your control that could not have been prevented or foreseen. It’s clear you cared for her very much. Binky free lovely bun~
