What kind of hay is she eating? Grass hay (timothy, orchard, etc.), or alfalfa?

Two of my buns will stand by their water bowl while grooming. They’ll take a drink, groom, take a drink, groom, and so on. I’m like… dang that’s smart! Way to prevent blockages y’all, keep up the good work! 👏🏻

It sounds like he could be in some sort of pain. It could be gas, but since it’s been a few days I would prob take him to the vet. Is he showing any selectivity with what he’s eating?
Can you take his temp? Do his ears feel cold or warm? Cool is OK, but if they are cold it could mean his temp is low. You can also do a rough check to see if he’s…[Read more]

Ah thank you!
<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>Well now I have a problem with her poop because in the evening she kind of have some squishy ones. It’s not the cecotropes. They are more like two squished together. There aren’t too many of them but still I don’t know what to do because she doesn’t eat anything only hay and pellets.</p> -

Ya then they are most likely very healthy. During them being three months though I would definitely introduce veggies.

Hi,
New to this place but you all seem so lovely and helpful I was hoping I could get your opinion, I have a one year old lop rabbit. We aren’t too sure what breed he is.
but the last few days he’s become lethargic and not showing much interest in his toys or running around. He is still eating and going to the toilet but doesn’t want to com…[Read more]

It’s difficult to say for how long he will keep scratching. What drops were you given? How do his ears look now? You should see quite a bit of improvement by now.
Ear mites typically cause scabs and sores, and they need time to heal even though the mites themselves die. There’s also the possibility that bacteria or yeasts starts to grow where the…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
Almost 2 weeks ago, the vets confirmed that Sid (my mini lop) had ear mites :(( they gave us spot on treatment that we must put on him once every 2 weeks for 6 weeks. It’s been almost 2 weeks since we have put on his first treatment. Today I’ve noticed he’s been scratching his ears more than yesterday! He is still a happy and energ…[Read more]

I have measured how much I forage for my buns. I pick leaves (apple, willow and hazel mostly), dandelion, goutweed, chickweed, yarrow, wild growing chicory etc and dry them on a food dehydrator. I dry them thoroughly, or else they will spoil. I store the dried leaves in plastic bags.

I think it would also be beneficial to start introducing veggies to her at this point. Of course do this very slowly as you don’t want to upset her stomach. Start by maybe giving her a 1/4 of a romaine leaf and then see how her stomach reacts. Watch her poop and if it’s a lot different then give her a smaller piece. Make sure you take you time and…[Read more]

Everytime they have told me it’s bacteria. I did make another appointment today and will ask them to check for yeast…is it something they would’ve caught doing cultures or viewing it on a slide?
she did not tell me what kind of tumor. She said she couldn’t even confirm it because his ear canal was so inflamed. I can tell swelling has gone…[Read more]

That’s true, she’s definitely been a little more friendly and active since I’ve gotten her spayed. After she healed she started to come out of her cage a lot more. She’s also been let scared to come toward me as long as I stay semi still. Still not aloud to pet her often but hopefully that’ll come one day.
