Practically all rabbits hate being picked up. Most also heartily dislike being held. You know this already, but I do think all your bun needs is more time. It is of course important that he associates you with nice things like food and treats and for example unconditional headrubs.
A bun that has a bonded partner tends to be less demanding of…[Read more]

If there are scabs, I would definitely separate. No fighting back can be an indication of resignation to bullying, which can’t be good for a rabbit’s well-being.
I don’t recall the history between these buns, but it sounds like going through a bonding process period again is needed.

Lately I’ve seen some of Smokey and OB’s fur around, and have sometimes caught Silver nipping them. π When I was feeling them both to see if there were any wounds, I found a few scabs on OB, and some patches where new fur is growing on Smokey. I don’t think either Smokey or OB would fight back, but I’m worried about the way Silver is treating…[Read more]

I have had my a 3 year old male, neutered bunny for a couple months now. I rescued him from a terrible situation where he was starved, and kept in a hutch. I donβt know much about his past home other than that, but I suspect something traumatic happened to him, because although he has gotten better, he is very cautious and will run away if he h…[Read more]

Fingers very crossed!
My bun had also had the RVHD2 as well as the Myxo-RHD, so he was good to go with the Myxo-RHD Plus last fall. He isnt side effect prone, but he is 8 years old.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could advise me. We have just bought a giant Rex bunny for our 9 year old. I want him to be a house bunny so am trying to litter train him. He is now completely clean in his bed and on the floor but if he jumps on the sofa he instantly poos and Wees. I want him to eventually have free run of our house and he is only 9…[Read more]

Thank you! I’ll contact some other clinics in the area and see what they think. Might even call up my vet for his opinion on the matter.
And thanks so much, fortunately she was vaccinated for Myxo-RHD last Feb and received the RHVD2 vaccine in May so she should be suitable for the dual shot. We’ll see what they think, they might decide to keep…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your amazing reply π
She has now had 4 doses of cisapride, and 3 metacam and quite literally was tripping over my feet this morning. Not to mention her litter box was full of poop!!
I’m hopeful this is a sign things are heading back the right direction. Her stomach is still slightly hard so I’ll try the simethicone and…[Read more]

I doubt 2 weeks in advance would cause trouble. It is after all recommended that you get an extra booster if there is an outbreak near you.Β I have heard about vets in Britain refusing to vaccinate before the booster is due, but I dont know the reason.. Several other vaccines for pets are nowadays given with longer intervals than used to be…[Read more]

I would definitely add some timothy hay into her diet. Generally speaking, a larger variety of hay provides a higher level of nutrition so a bunny on timothy, meadow, orchard, oat etc. will have a more nutritious diet than a bunny kept purely on meadow. Timothy hay is high in fibre so particularly good if you’re experiencing squishy/dark poops.…[Read more]

Hi,
a quick question, do any of you know whether bunnies can have their booster vaccinations before their due date?
One of our buns is due her booster on the 14th. I tried to email the vet today to book her in for next week 8th Feb, but I received a fairly rude response which didn’t help at all. This isn’t our normal vet clinic but due to the…[Read more]

If she is pooping, things are moving through. There’s not a lot more you can do now, except make sure she moves around and keeps warm. (If she moves around and eats by herself, she will keep warm in normal room temp. Cisapride (a motility drug) and metacam are drugs that are commonly prescribed for rabbits, I’d keep giving those.
You can give 1…[Read more]
