i have post traumatic stress disorder and i had a mental breakdown, it really scared my bunny he’s hiding in the tunnel now. I feel horrible, I couldn’t control myself and was very loudly crying.  now I am more sad bc my bunny doesn’t wanna come out of his tunnel. I tried giving him some pellets from my hand and he took them, but went back into…[Read more]

I’m glad she’s on sub q fluids! That would explain why she won’t drink.

I looked up when my bun had his tummy trouble, he was started on Flagyl on December 3 2020, so he’s been good now almost precisely 2 months.

    Hi Wick

    Thanks for your advice.

We have put a little apple juice in and she still won’t drink.

We have been weighing her water and taking turns to stay with her round the clock over the weekend and know she’s not even drinking after eating.

She is drinking 10 x1 ml syringes of water every now and again. But she won’t drink more than that. She…[Read more]

    Hi Bam

Thanks so much for your reply. I feel so reassured that your rabbit recovered.

I hope that they find the culprit in the fecal exam and hopefully it can be treated with antibiotics too.

Glad you’re little one is OK now, it’s not a nice experience for them.

My rabbit is on subqs while we wait.

    Thanks again

It’s only been a few hours.  I don’t see anything out of the ordinary other than a little bit of dry skin flakes (I do not see them moving).  We brushed her gently and things seem to have gotten a little better.  Our apartment is typically pretty dry to begin with and we are packing for a move so there is likely more irritants in the air.  Tha…[Read more]

I echo Dana’s point in that the small space method is a commonly seen method, but not always successful or productive. What you see on bonding sites and videos are general things that have worked for many rabbits, but it’s important to remember that there is no “one-way” to bond rabbits — the owner’s intuition can be a much better tool than…[Read more]

I have two bunnies and I recently moved (about maybe 2 weeks ago) into my new house. The one bunny who this is about, Alexa (fixed female Netherland dwarf, about 4), got a stress-related cold so I’ve had to give her an antibiotic and such.

Before the antibiotic, she was peeing outside her litterbox just randomly on the carpets and such, but only…[Read more]

Some people put a tiny bit of fruit juice in the water to make it more appealing. Sometimes people make “hay tea”, let it cool down, and serve that as well. Here is a post about making hay tea: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/hay-tea-for-anybunny-who-doesnt-drink-enough-especially-for-ill-or-recovering-rabbits/

How long has this been going on for? Sometimes, if a rabbit is going through a shed, there’s an increase in ear itching because a piece of fur or something gets caught in there and they are trying to get it out (which you can let them sort that out themselves). If the ear looks good, that is good.

Dry skin can occur naturally and also naturally…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic how much veggies? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago

Veggies are inherently hard to measure because you can’t really cram them into a cup, haha. Generally speaking, 1-2cups a day, which I just eyeball filling a small plate. What veggies, the appropriate ratio between them, and how big a plate will depend on your rabbit’s age, diet history, and weight. You can find general information about all…[Read more]

    Hi All,

Our 5 month old bunny has been spending a lot of time cleaning her ears, inside and out.  Her behavior is otherwise the same.  We don’t see any wax or buildup in her ears and no head tilt.  She let’s us pet her and touch her ears like usual.  We do see what seems to be dry skin.

Should we be treating her for mites?  If so any tips on t…[Read more]

I don’t have a bunny at the moment, but I want to get one in the future so i’m just doing some research on them. I know they need veggies everyday, but I was wondering how much per meal, and how often should you feed them veggies? thank you!

When my bun not very long ago had something similar, mucusy poop and brownish color water from his anus, he got 5 days of metronidazole (Flagyl). This took care of the problem.

It could be something to discuss with your vet, because its absolutely not good if a bun loses fluids via the feces. Metronidazole is an antibiotic, and you need a vet to…[Read more]

Thanks for your input! – I just finished putting both of them back to bed, because tonight has just been too crazy! I can’t do these marathons. I also figured a couple hours into the small space that it just wasn’t working – I was intervening for all subsequent hump-fights, but it was just way worse than the tub, and Alfredo was not happy. I even…[Read more]

    Hello

I’m still having ongoing issues with my rabbit.

She is very activa and alert. Is no longer experiencing the bloating. She has a great appetite but she’s pooing clear water. It’s definitely from her bum as sometimes it’s brown and it also keeps making a her droppings wet on the outside.

It doesn’t smell like much and it’s usually…[Read more]
