Ahh thank you very much!
Is there any problem if they are sometimes different size. In the evening it’s usually a mix of some smaller ones, some very small and harder, some completely normal

Yes, you can give him this hay. Darker poop isnt a problem if they’re nicely shaped, of a good size and ample. When you change hays, you can get darker or lighter poop. As long as you see that he is eating the hay, it’s fine. Hay isnt uniform, the nutritional content can vary quite a bit with the time it was harvested and the conditions where the…[Read more]

Hi I know there have been a lot of topics about bunny poop but I just want to make sure that if my bunny started having darker little moist poop when I changed his hay, if it’s okay.
He is a young 4 months old bunny so I give him alfalfa pellets with higher protein.
I’m pretty sure it changed due to hay because he started getting these darker…[Read more]

Gotcha, I would def keep going in the large space then and just give them some time. The chasing can seem a bit endless, but actually the more times he chases and it DOESN”T turn to a fight (Alfredo doesn’t turn to face him), the more Theo will realize Alfredo isn’t going to challenge him.

I agree with Wick, I think bring him inside and having him looked over is a good move.
Also, I can’t quite tell from the video, but it looks like you are holding him on his back? It might just be a weird perspective, but if that’s the case, I just wanted to mention that rabbit welfare groups do not recommend holding rabbits this way. There are…[Read more]

Gotcha!
You might want to get a sheet of vinyl flooring to use under his pen for now if he’s peeing on the carpet. You can get it pretty cheaply at hardware stores (I was able to order some from Home Depot and pick it up curbside recently, but not sure where you are in the world!). He could be marking the carpet if there are lingering pee-smells…[Read more]

Metacam is a pain med, so that should help. Some bunnies do better with the dose split and given every 12 hours, so if he seems to be in pain hours before his next dose, you might ask the vet about that (and/or ask for a stronger dose). You might want to have the vet call you tomorrow and ask a few more questions about the wound.
It’s possible…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Things to help bunny's teeth in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago
In actuality, hay consumption is generally enough to maintain a rabbit’s teeth, with exception to those who for some reason are prone to dental problems due to genetics which might cause misaligned teeth or something. If your rabbit is eating a healthy amount of hay and has no dental problems, it should be ok. Hay has the texture of sandpaper,…[Read more]

Hey folks, I would like to give my rabbit something safe to chew on to wear her teeth down. She’s always had mostly those willow balls, but she has run out of her last one. She has some of those timothy hay grass mats left and she loves those – but I’m assuming that’s not hard enough for her to wear her teeth down. Are the willow sticks/balls/etc…[Read more]

In his pen I have a bunch of toys (wooden balls, plain cardboard cause he likes to chew, wooden log, etc.), his water bowl and food bowl and that’s it. I have his pen in a small section of my room bc I know it’s better to keep the area smaller while litter training. Unfortunately the floor is carpet bc of the apartment I live in so he doesnt have…[Read more]

@Wick thanks for the quick reply! His cage has a lot of hay bedding for him and has cardboard around the exposed edges to maybe retain some sort of heat, I’m worried that this is not enough… I can always move the cage inside, I moved it inside a couple of times in December when my other bunny had GI Stasis, so it’s definitely easy to do so.…[Read more]

He left some cecotropes on the floor. Maybe it’s just difficult for him to eat them right now? Is this concerning or normal for a rabbit with an injury? He’s spent most of the day laying in the hidey house. Oh sometimes when he poops on the floor now he will eat them (normal poops). He’s done it a couple times a long time ago but started doing…[Read more]

For the immediate future, can you house your rabbit indoors overnight? That is definitely on the low side of what a rabbit can tolerate for temperature, especially for overnight periods. Is his cage well insulated?
I would recommend a vet visit as soon as you can to assess the ear mite situation actually. If it was not properly treated and…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I woke up this morning and went to check on my bun. He stays in an indoor cage in the garage overnight, and I take him out to play indoors everyday for a minimum of 4/5 hours. This morning he was breathing noisily for a very short amount of time. The breathing wasn’t fast, it was rather slow, like one breath per second. I brought h…[Read more]

Bam that’s possible. For wound care I got the germi-stat, one small squeeze into two cups of water (I’ve been using warm) and using gauze to dip it in and clean it. The instructions I got were to do it once or twice daily. I’m doing morning and night with his meds. I’ve been using cotton rounds because I thought it was the same thing but I just lo…[Read more]
