Hmmm, I think it would still be OK to try that plan, but if things don’t go well after a couple dates, they prob need cooling off time. Given the history, I would not allow fur pulling or any scuffling because it might just add to the bad feelings between them. I can imagine she would resent him after a bite like that. The location makes me think…[Read more]

Thank you all for your kind words. What’s most upsetting is I tried so hard to protect her. I truly don’t believe there’s any rabbit like her out there and it’s a huge loss not having her hop around. After a week I still get depressed knowing how I did everything to protect her. I know she is in a better place and I did the right thing.

DanaNM you were right. I’m not comfortable sharing everything that happened right now because it hurts me so deeply and I’m so stressed. He’s in the ICU right now.

Hi thank you so much for your reply and advice! I really appreciate the support. I think you’re right, I’ll divide the laundry into two areas and keep them near each other but apart for a while. The bathroom is fairly neutral so I’ll start bonding sessions there. Fingers crossed it’ll work and doesn’t need a full reset.
Regarding the injury,…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic light diarrhea in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago
True diarrhea is an emergency, especially in a young bunny. With very young bunnies often the culprit is coccidea, a parasite. Is the poop very liquid and watery, like a wet splat? Or more just soft and squishy. What is his diet like?
But, if he’s having normal poops too, it might be extra cecotropes that got smushed.

Such a bummer! That sounds very stressful, I think your guess about the new room is probably correct. It doesn’t sound like the bond is completely broken, but I think you will need to do some bonding sessions in a neutral space to repair the relationship. The wound on her head is a bit worrisome, was it more of a scrape or did it look like an…[Read more]

Hi everyone! First time posting, sorry this will be long because it’s a bit of a weird complex situation. So I have a pair of bonded bunnies, both desexed, both are free-range house rabbits with their main litter/food area in the laundry.
Maya is almost 8 years old and had been a single bunny almost her whole life until last December when I…[Read more]

I don’t like to bash veterinary practices (also it’s against our forum policies to make explicit, direct comments about it), but if you feel dental procedures will be the norm, I think it would be worth finding a practice that you can expect some more consistency and communication, especially if there are unique things about your rabbit, such as…[Read more]

One of my 3 month old bunnies had some brown stains on one of his towels and some on his tushie, but they’ve both been eating normal, no big changes, any possible causes? the stains were flat and round-ish shapes, i can try to attach a picture later, and he’s still using the litterbox, having some normal poop, and I worry he might become…[Read more]

I thought they did his molars (cheek teeth) already? But yeah, all that sounds pretty off to me. Personally I wouldn’t go back to them.

DanaNM replied to the topic Small space making things worse? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 6 months ago
That sounds very positive!
My only other advice is to give it a bit longer than you think you need before moving them. So I would prob try to go at least 48 hours with the litter box, and assuming you don’t have any more negative behaviors in that time, then you are prob ready to move to semi-neutral.
I have not always had a great semi-neutral…[Read more]

Anywhere between 4-6 months is normal for spaying. Some vets like to wait till 6 months, especially if the bun is very small, so it’s really up to what your vet thinks.
