Hello everyone 🙂
My mini-lop rabbit (Ju) has developed a stubborn ear infection (outer ear for now) and we’ve tried meloxicam and antibacterial topical treatments to help him. He took an ear swab today to stain for a more specific bacteria so we can try a different anti-biotic (but we don’t have the results for it yet). The vet noticed that when…[Read more]

ZhuMo started the topic How to rebond Please help!! in the forum BONDING 5 years, 6 months ago
I first got ZhuZhu (Netherland Dwarf female) when she was 8 weeks old in June. I was worried she’d be lonely by herself so I got MoMo (Holland lop female) when she was 8 weeks old in October. They both free roam the whole house.
When they first met, ZhuZhu didn’t really pay much attention to MoMo and ignored her, but after a few weeks they became…[Read more]

I think it’s good you will take him to the vet to see what’s going on. There are still some issues with image upload since the site update, but for many people it seems to work if you add the photo to your profile, and then you can select it from your media library in order to add it to your post.

it’s hard to describe how it looks but its medium splotches of brown-ish and is soaked up by the towel, there was some more so i changed the towel and will be checking pretty often, and his diet is orchard grass hay, timothy hay pellets and water, he’s too young for any veggies or treats, i did used to worry when he was about 10 -11 weeks old i…[Read more]

Thank you so much again. Everything you said makes a lot of sense. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out and try bonding them in the few neutral areas I have in my house. And yes I’ll wait for a few days of good behaviour and no tension before relaxing.
That’s so interesting that we had similar situations with the male/female dynamic! I’m sorry to hear…[Read more]

socks started the topic bunny not laying down in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 6 months ago
hi! I’ve had my bunny for about 2 months. She usually lays down a lot, outside or in her cage, flopping or stretching out all the way. For the past couple days, I have only seen her loafing. Her appetite is high and her poops look normal, though a teeny bit smelly (like BO) . She is even more energetic than usual. It’s also colder here than nor…[Read more]

Each rabbit is so unique, it’s clear she had such a huge impact on you in the short time she was with you, and was very well loved in that time. Even though her time was short, it sounds like it was wonderful and full of love, something that sadly most bunnies out there never get to experience.
In time, you might find it comforting to make a…[Read more]

Hmmm, I think it would still be OK to try that plan, but if things don’t go well after a couple dates, they prob need cooling off time. Given the history, I would not allow fur pulling or any scuffling because it might just add to the bad feelings between them. I can imagine she would resent him after a bite like that. The location makes me think…[Read more]

Thank you all for your kind words. What’s most upsetting is I tried so hard to protect her. I truly don’t believe there’s any rabbit like her out there and it’s a huge loss not having her hop around. After a week I still get depressed knowing how I did everything to protect her. I know she is in a better place and I did the right thing.

DanaNM you were right. I’m not comfortable sharing everything that happened right now because it hurts me so deeply and I’m so stressed. He’s in the ICU right now.

Hi thank you so much for your reply and advice! I really appreciate the support. I think you’re right, I’ll divide the laundry into two areas and keep them near each other but apart for a while. The bathroom is fairly neutral so I’ll start bonding sessions there. Fingers crossed it’ll work and doesn’t need a full reset.
Regarding the injury,…[Read more]

True diarrhea is an emergency, especially in a young bunny. With very young bunnies often the culprit is coccidea, a parasite. Is the poop very liquid and watery, like a wet splat? Or more just soft and squishy. What is his diet like?
But, if he’s having normal poops too, it might be extra cecotropes that got smushed.

Such a bummer! That sounds very stressful, I think your guess about the new room is probably correct. It doesn’t sound like the bond is completely broken, but I think you will need to do some bonding sessions in a neutral space to repair the relationship. The wound on her head is a bit worrisome, was it more of a scrape or did it look like an…[Read more]

Hi everyone! First time posting, sorry this will be long because it’s a bit of a weird complex situation. So I have a pair of bonded bunnies, both desexed, both are free-range house rabbits with their main litter/food area in the laundry.
Maya is almost 8 years old and had been a single bunny almost her whole life until last December when I…[Read more]
