Hi there,
So if they are trying to fight and lunging at each other immediately, I would do more pre-bonding. And yes continue swapping throughout bonding sessions as well.
I would also probably try some stress sessions. Car rides can really work wonders (have a helper drive so you can make sure they don’t fight in the care). If you can do your…[Read more]

After his 5th escape he stopped jumping and things went very well for the rest of their time together 🙂 Clover did some proper polite nips but no biting!

I wish I knew regarding the tub! The tube has never worked that well for me for that reason. I have used an x-pen to try to block it, but it doesn’t really work that well.

I agree with pinkiemarie, that doesn’t sound too bad to me at all and sounds like a very normal early session.
Next session I would do lots and lots of petting and try to help them feel calm and relaxed (it will help you too). If one goes to mount, as long as it’s not face mounting, let it happen. But if the mounted bun tries to get away, then…[Read more]

We took almost a 2 week break and started fresh today with a car ride and tub time. Clover is being a good girl with no biting so far but unfortunately my little dude Ben keeps jumping out of the tub, which is why I never did much tub time before. Any advice for keeping him from jumping would be appreciated, sigh!

Ok so this is frustrating but it’s ok! Bonding can be a tough process for everybody including the human but what happened today wasn’t actually bad. You didn’t describe any circling that would indicate that they wanted to really fight. Mounting is a behavior that they use to establish dominance so they were saying “hey I like you! I want to be the…[Read more]

First of all, the best thing for sterilizing bunny quarters is Virkon S. It’s non toxic to rabbits, it doesn’t stain and you dont wipe it off – you spray it on previously cleaned surfaces and let it dry. (Any disinfectant should be applied to cleaned surfaces, because they won’t penetrate actual dirt). It is used in stables, particularly horse…[Read more]

Update: We did our first bonding session and it didn’t go so well. I had them in a small neutral space, with some lettuce. At first, they were just getting used to the space and eating the lettuce. Then, they started trying to hump one another. The girl started trying to hump him first and he did not like that. They were grabbing each others necks…[Read more]

It’s so easy for rabbits to find something you overlooked even if you’ve done everything you could think of to bunny proof. They’re just too smart and inquisitive. You’re extremely lucky to have such a dedicated vet! I hope your buns are ok!

Hi everyone,
(Sorry for such a long post btw, hope it’s not too confusing)
My bunny passed away in October and the vets and I suspect it was from RHD. He lived in a shed connected to a large outdoor avairy type space with wooden decking. Tomorrow I am bringing home some pet mice who will live in that shed so I need to clean it. I have one other…[Read more]

I have a Polish who weighs 2.5 lbs full grown and he made it through his neuter just fine. Just make sure you go to a vet with a lot of experience with rabbits! He was also done young at about 3.5 months because he was getting extremely aggressive. The vet sees rabbits daily and said it was fine to do his at the age but if you can keep him…[Read more]

There isn’t much data on simethicone for buns. Some vets say it can’t help because rabbits can’t burp. Luckily, gas can escape via the other end of the rabbit. I use simethicone for my bun, in my experience it works very well for gas – but gas drops alone won’t cure more complex GI issues. It is interesting that you got Trimebutin for…[Read more]

Hi everyone,I have a question in terms of dandruff. Recently my rabbit started to shed a lot and I’ve started to find a dandruff over his fur. He also has two spots with grey fur, it looks like he has less fur than everywhere else on his body however last time when he was shedding I had same situation. I wanted to ask you if you think its…[Read more]

Thank you for saving these poor bunnies!
The other pictures aren’t showing up, at least not for me.
You will have to get all three fixed, only doing the male isn’t going to cut it unfortunately. Rabbits can only be bonded after everyone has been spayed/neutered. You should make sure to tell that to the person who took the two other males in as…[Read more]

Thank you for the nice welcome! This boy is dreamy. I’ve never had a young, unaltered rabbit before. He tries to get to the two girls and as soon as he does he sprays them in the face. They are not impressed. I was trying to find homes for the girls but no luck. So it has been a bit stressful with three new untamed rabbits. There were two other…[Read more]
