What’s his diet like? If he is eating his hay well, going to a hay-only diet for a while might help things resolve and establish healthy gut microbes.

Is he showing signs of pain? It’s good he’s active, as movement can also help with gas.

DanaNM replied to the topic Should I be worried about my bun getting neutered? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago

If the vet is experienced and rabbit savvy, then I wouldn’t be too worried. My vet has routinely neutered rabbits that are 9 and even older. The surgery is very quick so the time under anesthesia is short. There are always risks with anesthesia, but with experienced vets these are low. And as you said, it has to be done due to the infection. So I…[Read more]

He might be a bit nippy because he’s not neutered yet and is prob starting to hit puberty. Male bunnies will nip a little when they are thinking about mounting. You can try making a little squeak kind of noise, it doesn’t have to be a loud scream. For now don’t try to touch him, just let him explore and sniff you. If he nips too much, make the…[Read more]

Thanks for responding! He’s had those calluses for years. They used to be worse and when they first started we took him to the vet and I can’t remember what they said but it’s been nothing to worry about. I do feel bad when I see them but he seems to be fine. I don’t have any bedding in his cage. And then he has an entire room to roam in which i…[Read more]

I use a re-usable lint roller, which I find so much more effective (with the benefit of producing less trash 🙂 ) for fabrics. I use it daily to get fur off the indoor cage floors (which are fleece, so they capture so much fur overnight), as well as my couch and clothes. It even works on carpet, if you don’t feel like vacuuming, but you know…[Read more]

    Hi everyone,

wasn’t sure what category this best fit into, so thought this would be the best place…

I’m not sure about you, but my Bun’s fluff manages to get everywhere!
He’s a Cashmere lop, so gorgeously fluffy and soft, but can’t pick him up without being covered in fluff head to toe. Which we don’t mind because we love cuddles, but it does…[Read more]

@LBJ10 thank you so much for the reply! I put the spot-on treatment on him once every two weeks for six weeks, so basically three times. But it still seems to be bothering him, which is why I am slightly concerned. I am putting another dose on him today and I will repeat the process of putting it on 3 times. I will hopefully have the time to…[Read more]

The paracord was a brilliant idea! It worked like a charm! And I was able to make it long enough that he has some running room. But if some bird tries to snatch him they ain’t getting far with him. I also found some pretty funny spiked vests used for coyotes but will work for large birds as well that I am going to buy. Who knew something 2lbs…[Read more]

Hey guys, I’m kind of scared about getting my senior older neutered. I’m not sure exactly how old my rabbit is, we got him for free from an acquaintance like 5 years ago and he was already an adult when we got him. He seemed to be at least a year old but I really can’t be sure. He is an American chinchilla rabbit and his life span is only about…[Read more]

It looks like you edited your post. From what I can see, his butt is a little messy. But it isn’t terrible. It looks more like he’s just been sitting in dirty litter. Does he hang out in his litter box a lot? If he’s in a clean environment then this level of dirtiness will likely resolve on its own. What kinds of treats are you giving him? Even if…[Read more]

If he’s already on gas drops, you could try massaging his belly. You can also try lifting his rear end up a bit, if he’ll let you. The gas will naturally want to travel upward, so lifting his rear will direct the gas in the proper direction.

My question is is this a really dirty bunny butt? I went to my vet for his eyes about a month ago and idk if they check their butts too. I dont feel like going back to the vet but noticing his butt gets poopy more and more. its kind of been like this for a bit and I cant give him a bath on my own. the red part kind of has always looked like that…[Read more]

Hi, i´m really worried about my bunny, he´s is almost 6 years old and recently some of his poops are soft and a little bit wet or he’s also been having diarrhea (almost everyday in the past 3 weeks maybe). I took him to the vet on the first week, she examined him and did a blood test and everything was fine, he had an ultrasound scan too, the v…[Read more]

Hey guys, my rabbit, Thumper has been having a whole lot of stomach issues lately, abnormal poop, gas, etc. We’ve taken him to the vet and he is on probiotics and gas drops. His feces and other issues seem to be clearing up but his gas just won’t go away. We think his stomach is acting up because he was on antibiotics and pain meds for an…[Read more]

Hi all, I’ve adopted my first bunny (3.5 months old, male, not neutered) and I’ve had him for 3 days so far. He’s very shy and skittish, so I try to take baby steps when bonding with him. Every day he seems to grow a tiny bit more confident around me, but still won’t let me touch him, even when he gets closer. He seems very curious about his…[Read more]
