Sounds like mites or ringworm if the skin is flaky and irritated. You’ll need a vet to help you determine which one so you can do the proper treatment.

Yes, fur pulling can look pretty bad. In my mind, a really bad fight involves biting that causes injury. You don’t want things to escalate though, so I would suggest keeping them separate for a bit. They were only neutered 8 days ago, so they are likely on a roller coaster of hormones right now. Wait for their hormones to settle, then do the bathtub.

it’s her skin on the outside of her ear at the bottom that is a bit reddish-pink looking, not anywhere in her ear. and the really tiny white things that seem like flakes are like in her fur from that area. it caught my eye because her fur is black so that was easily noticable.

Some rabbits can learn what “no” means, but you have to catch them in the act (i.e. chewing something they aren’t supposed to) and then redirect them. I think telling her “no” as she’s running around the room isn’t going to mean anything to her. Also, as Hazel pointed out, pushing her head down isn’t going to mean anything either. If anything she…[Read more]

That makes me feel better.
I might be a bit paranoid as a first time bunny mom, but the tornado with tufts of fur flying everywhere freaked me out haha. If it was just the thumping/grunting/nipping I probably wouldn’t have thought much of it. It was when they actually got into it that I panicked.
They were neutered about 8 days ago. Their bigger…[Read more]

This actually sounds pretty normal. Keep in mind that they are young bunnies and, presumably, recently neutered. It isn’t unusual for them to behave like children, especially when yummy treats are to be had. The scuffle you witnessed isn’t what I would consider a full blown fight. They are simply having a dispute. You might do better to separate…[Read more]

So I am somewhat new to the bunny world. I had a bunny as a kid, but I was young and not really responsible for it’s care. My parents took care of it and I just got to play with it.
Now, as an adult, I just adopted two neutered male bunnies (both approx. 3 months old, not sibling) a few days ago. The shelter required them to be adopted together…[Read more]

A bit of both. He’s a teeny dog so any breeze or if it isn’t at least 80f in my house he is cold to the touch. And my dad has put clothes on him since he was a puppy because that’s just what my dad did so I guess he’s gotten used to wearing them and likes them now.
I didn’t even think about taking a video. I’m going to try that.

To clarify, is this the exposed skin inside her ear or it is fur on the outside, at the base of the ear (so around the top of the head and neck/shoulders)? If there are flakes and it’s red, it could potentially be mites or ringworm. Both are treatable, but you need a vet to assess which it is and they will recommend the rabbit-safe treatment.

Watery eye can have a number of causes, and unfortunately paying for assessments is probably needed to find the real cause. There are also rabbits who have conditions where they will always have runny eyes, so you will need to make sure to gently wipe them and manage it every day. Here’s an informative article on potential causes for water eye and…[Read more]

If you can make it a point to always supervise, perhaps you can take off the cone when you present pellets and fresh hay, but then immediately put it back on her when she no longer is eating. You can also syringe feed a pellet mash (pellets soaked in water and mashed up) to her directly, if she’s having trouble eating on her own.

hi everyone! My rabbits Sage and Chicory were just spayed on Thursday. Sage seems to be recovering pretty well, but Chicory has torn her stitches out. I brought her to the vet early this morning to get it stitched up again. The vet put a plastic cone on her. Chicory is not happy and she won’t eat pellets, but is trying to eat hay, and she can’t…[Read more]

@Susanne thanks for your input. I think I will revert back to separating the hay + litter and in addition change the litter every day and see how that goes.
In the meantime, if anyone has tips to spot cleaning his paws despite me not being able to pick him up or handle his feet, I’d really appreciate it. Sounds impossible to me, but I thought I’d…[Read more]

Hello sorry for the bad grammar. But does anyone know if rabbit eyes still keep being wet after being treated? So basically 3 months ago I bought my rabbit to the vet because I notice his eyes were watery and white mucus was coming out of his eyes, so when I took him to the vet he had some scar inside his eyes and something like excessive…[Read more]

I have one bunny that always pees on the hay, so I could see it soaking the poop pellets and then soaking their feet. Mine sometimes get pee paws and I have to let it go because it’s too hard for me to clean them also. They clean themselves pretty quick. That’s another reason I just change out the pee pad more often. If yours still uses the…[Read more]

Thanks for your replies.
@Hazel he’s 4lb and gets about 1/8 cup of oxbow garden select pellets, about 2 handfuls of fresh veggies and a timothy/ochard grass hay mix unlimited (he prefers the orchard grass and softer strands of timothy). What do you think?
@Susanne I got him neutered within 2 weeks of adopting him. I should pay closer attention…[Read more]
