Alright thank you Wick, and yes she has been shedding especially around her face which I’ve been trying to keep clean as much as possible. She won’t take gas drops or pain meds from the syringe or on treats, so I’m wondering if like dabbing small amounts on her feet will get her to ingest some since she is still grooming herself? I know that’…[Read more]

I cannot think of a time gas drops have been harmful, so I think simethicone is worth trying. Poops that are stuck together or mishapen — are they potentially influenced by fur? Is Rain shedding? Fur digestion can lead to stomach blockage, which can explain the discomfort and lack of appetite, in which case yes, the emergency vet is the best…[Read more]

It has been around two weeks since I got her, and my rabbit still has orange/reddish pee. I thought it might just be due to the veggies she was eating, so I cut out all the ones that cause this to see if the color would go back to normal. It didn’t. Bunny is eating and drinking as normal. Is this a vet situation??

To add to that her stomach feels unusually hard on both sides and she keeps pressing her tummy to the ground. I want to try and get her to take gas drops but I’m worried if they can make it worse since she’s on an empty stomach?

Thank you all for the responses and suggestions, I will definitely look into talking to a school counselor. As of now Rain does have a consistently safe environment and plenty of time to roam. The issue with her diet is that she refuses to eat hay of any kind and its starting to take a toll on her body I think. She’ll eat her veggies, pellets a…[Read more]

Hello,
I am writing as a desperate new bunny mom (Almost 5 weeks) Coco is a 3month old day-time free roam minilop who was a very happy social bun baby who loves to be pet, started flopping next to me in 10days. I didn’t pick her up unless it was required to take her to her pen at night. Feb24th princess managed to move the cardboard blockers and…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Rough/Minimal tangled fur around my rabbits behind in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago
It is a common area for some matting, but as long as its not dirty or wet, I dont think you need to worry.
It’s really great that you’re so observant!

OKay, thank you, i was worried about it but as it is minimal i suppose i should not worry, no other parts of her are matted or tangled in anyway, just a small amount around her behind.

Minimal tangled fur is as a rule not a problem. Bigger mats can be cut some distance from the skin and then pulled apart with your fingers. This is obviously easier to do if someone else helps you hold your rabbit. More serious mats are best tackled with a sanitary shave by a vet or vet tech.
Wetting the fur or applying oil etc will most likely…[Read more]

@Wick, wow this looks very sturdy and the roof isn’t caving in at all which I often see when looking at online pics of NIC condos (how so?!?). You should post a full-on video demo 😉

Hello, all
My rabbit is a house dwarf lop rabbit, she goes and does her business in her large tray, i use newspaper and hay as bedding, i have done this for quite some time resulting in no problems since i change it fairly regularly every day.. Anyway as I was grooming my rabbit I noticed that if I ran my hand around her behind the fur there was…[Read more]

I’ll try starting with the little nose rubs before the full on head pets, thanks for the tip! I usually let him inspect the brush and he throws it with his mouth lol 🙂 I used to let him be brushed on his own terms sort of like what you’re saying but then he’d get upset and not come back and I just couldn’t get enough fur haha

That does give me an idea, he usually doesn’t put up a fuss while he’s eating when I pull out his tufts of fur. So while I can’t pet him and hand groom him maybe I can get away with slyly pulling fur out while food is distracting him. Maybe I’ll try that a few times!

I know it has been September since my last update. I hope if someone finds this blog in the future, it may help another rabbit parent.
I did have Griff tested for EC in December and that came back negative. Also at that time, he had another urine analysis and there was no active infection. He was still having incontinence issues so the vet…[Read more]

I just adopted a bunny who is 2.5 yrs old and although he loves being pet, he absolutely hates being picked up too. Before grooming, I show him the brush and let him give it a sniff. I don’t pick him up or handle him very much, I just brush him while he sits near me on the carpet. I think he usually likes it as he’ll stay for 20 seconds before…[Read more]
