DanaNM replied to the topic Walking (harness) strategies for bonded buns in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 5 months ago
Sorry to be a debbie-downer, but my strategy would be to not do it at all.
Some bonded buns are fine with short separations, others are not. Going outside and coming back in probably would mean the bun would smell differently and could trigger some fighting.
Exploring a safely fenced area together with supervision to watch for birds of prey and…[Read more]

What kind of toys do you mean? If they are rabbit specific toys for chewing, they are safe to be eaten.

Ok thanks.
He’s not fixed yet, I booked an appointment the day after we adopted him and the appointment wait was 3 months! I can tell the difference between his poo/pee smell vs his hormonal now lol Which seems like a weird thing to say lol
What kind of screen are you using? The pellets are under the screen?

Lots of people use horse stall pellets (same thing as wood stove pellets), I like them, I haven’t had a problem with odor. My bun doesn’t like stepping on them either though. I used to put a thin layer of hay on top which worked fine, now I’m using a litter screen.

I’ve been using wood stove pellets since it’s what the previous owners had when we adopted him. They do work at some extent, but my rabbit hates going in his box when it’s been changed. Another thing is that the litter boxes really smell bad after one days use. So now I’m trying to find out what you wonderful people use and what you think is best…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic respiratory infection in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 5 months ago
I think you should call your vet and tell them that your bun is still having these problems. With that info, they should be able to renew your prescription for antibiotics without having to see your bun again.
It is very common that buns need at least 2 weeks on antibiotics for a respiratory infection. The fact that she is doing better is very…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Blankets? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 5 months ago
I have faux fur blankets of very good quality. I can say that buns like to pee on faux fur 😬 Mine can be washed though, so its not a huge problem. Make sure it’s a type that doesn’t shed, as LBJ says. A shedding blanket would be highly annoying even for non-bun owners.

I use natural fur, unlike artificial fur, it does not crumble so much, and it is simply more comfortable.

Update: Rain started eating some greens on her own randomly an hour ago!! (Throwing a tantrum after being tricked into her cage must have worked up an appetite haha.) I also managed to surprise her with more painkillers and sheβs been munching on salad again >:) Just a few minor victories that hopefully mean things will be okay.

Bam replied to the topic Bunbun's personality changed after humping a toy for the first time. in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 5 months ago
It is always an observandum when a rabbit becomes less interested in food. Something is going on, but the question is of course what.
I’m thinking the humping could’ve been about relieving pain/discomfort or distracting himself from pain/discomfort. Another possibility is of course the seasonal change, with regards to the rapid change in amount…[Read more]

Hi Ellie!
Wonderful to see you here again! 💗 I often think about you and Breintje. It’s so great to have a cuddly bun, my bun Vilde is 8.5 years too now, and a total cuddle bug!
I have been trying my hands at Tunisian crochet these last few weeks:

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could give me any advice. So one of my bunnies plays with toys normally, he chews on everything but that’s all he does, he chews it up and then spits it out. But my other bunny just eats all his toys. Like he chews them up and swallows them. I haven’t been giving him very many toys recently and I feel really bad…[Read more]

Hi everyone! First time posting but I just signed up after lurking since last year. I will try hard to be brief with this.
Bunbun is almost 1 y/o. Neutered 5 months ago. During puberty, he never humped anything at all. Suddenly, about a two weeks ago, he humped a stuffed animal for the first time and really went to town.
He ended up getting…[Read more]
