I use puppy pee pads with the recycled newspaper in the corners, then try to keep the hay on one side, though one of mine just pees all over the hay. I end up replacing it all the time which gets expensive but easy/ doesn’t smell too bad and better than when she wouldn’t pee in the box. I thought the pine helped more with smell but they didn’t do…[Read more]

Congrats on getting through the trip without too much hassle, I’m sure it was stressful knowing how hard it was for them.

Charlie was seen by a new vet today as I was not satisfied with her first saying she has chronic allergies. Especially after her culture results showed actinobacillus. She had a 14 day course of Zeniquin and still symptomatic. He did not extend Zeniquin saying itโs allergies.
I know Iโve posted a lot on this topic last 6 months and all the ant…[Read more]

Bam – Thanks for responding! I was actually wondering about the change to spring being a possibility as well.
His poop is just fine. No different than normal. I haven’t weighed up but can start. I’m used to that from when I had rats.Is it still concerning even though he does eat all of his food, just not at first?
DanaNM – Thank you for…[Read more]

Oh yeah he most likely stinks because he’s not neutered. A nice fluffy hay layer should encourage him to use it.
I used to use carefresh, but I think pine pellets have better odor control.

BinkyBunny’s bun Jack got obsessed with mounting when he had a bladder stone, so it could be that he’s having a urinary issue. Combined with the reduced appetite, I would have him checked out by the vet.

No worries, as a bunny owner you’ll learn everything there is to know about pee and poo, and more! ๐
I made my litter screen out of a small sheet of plastic mesh that can be found in the arts and crafts section, it’s for knitting/embroidering. They’re easy to cut into the perfect shape to fit your litter box, just make sure you get one that’s…[Read more]

Thanks! I didn’t realize that spring hormones was a thing even for fixed rabbits… Theo has been peeing a lot on things recently so maybe that’s it. In fact, he JUST peed on his bed….. ๐ย I’ll probably at least wait it out through this season if that’s a contributor.

DanaNM replied to the topic When is it safe to move bunnies in together? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 5 months ago
With only working with them a few days it sounds like you are moving quite quickly.
How long have they been together? Are you doing 24/7 bonding?
Chasing and mounting is not always bad, is it “i want to mount you” chasing with ears forward? Or aggressive chasing? Mounting is fine as long as it doesn’t lead to a fight.
The rule of thumb is that…[Read more]

Debbie Downer is my favorite! ๐
Agree with Dana, having them in a fenced in area/x-pen would be much safer.

More pre-bonding can really help things, so it sounds like you are set up for success.
I would keep doing side swaps for a few weeks.
I wouldn’t take down the fence after pre-bonding, as they will still claim the area as their territory and will likely fight. What kind of neutral spaces do you have to work with? I personally have never had good…[Read more]

Hmmmm that’s tough. I really am not sure, as you know them best. I’m also probably not the best person to advise on this as I’ve just completely given up on my quad LOL.
If you are 100% sure that he is feeling OK, then I think it might be OK to keep pushing… but its possible he’s acting grumpy because he’s in some discomfort that hasn’t fully…[Read more]

Oh no, I’m so sorry ๐ That is so frustrating.
I would give them a chance to calm down. It might be easiest to just wait till you move… because then you’ll have the journey and a completely new space to work in. New bonds can be a bit tenuous. I’ve also heard that sometimes in spring hormones can trigger some issues. But it’s really good they…[Read more]
