Wick & Fable replied to the topic Any tips on encouraging hay eating? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 5 months ago
The non-hay food spacing you mention could be a contributor. 7am and 11am are pretty close together. If he had 7am and 5:30PM only, that would probably encourage more hay eating. It’s possible that between these feedings and his natural sleep time, there is actually not many opportunities where he’s active/hungry/bored enough to eat hay.

Hi I haven’t forgotten this group. Whenever someone shows interest in getting a bunny I always direct them here.
I have a lot of good memories of y’all. The old timers still here.
Unfortunately after Cottons passing I haven’t been allowed to get another bunny where I live. I have a cat now.
If any of you old-timers from back when want to friend…[Read more]

You could try switching up the brand of hay. My guys seem to get bored of their hay sometimes so i rotate 3 different brands to keep things new and that did the trick for me

I definitely think these are great ideas and are worth a try. When it comes to walking on certain surfaces, Barney doesn’t really like the hardwood floor because he doesn’t have a lot of traction so he prefers to stay on the carpets which unfortunately is where most of the wooden furniture is.

MooseMouse replied to the topic What flooring do YOU use? And opinions needed in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 5 months ago
So my bunny boys have the whole basement to themselves the floor is carpeted and new so we completely covered it in foam puzzle pieces and cut them to the shape of the room. It works great protecting to floor from any accidents and I love it but in hind sight it was pretty expensive to do the whole basement and probably would have been cheaper…[Read more]

Can you cut plastic corner guards to fit the furniture legs? You could also try corrugated plastic or PVC pipe pieces, although that would be more noticeable than clear plastic.
I don’t know how sensitive he is about walking on certain surfaces, but another idea would be to put mats with “nubs” down in front of vulnerable pieces of furniture.…[Read more]

@HipHopBunny He is super cute!! Also yes they allow me to foster him for about a week to decide if we are a good match. I just want to make sure I do everything right with him if I decide to! Nighttime is the only time I’m worried about at this moment as I believe I have a good grasp on the rest. I just deal with some noise sensitivity issues so m…[Read more]

Is that him in the picture? Is he a dwarf breed like a Holland? At 6 months, dwarf breeds are pretty much done growing. You can start transitioning to an adult diet. If you haven’t already, that would mean switching to an adult pellet.

He sure sounds sweet!🥰
Maybe you could try fostering him and seeing how he is at night? The only time I really slept with them was when I was bonding them, and they did pretty well. 🙂
Fingers crossed that it’s a match!

I agree. It’s hard to tell from the picture. Syphilis comes to mind anytime you see a sore around the mouth, so I would definitely keep an eye on it. If it doesn’t heal or it gets worse (particularly yellow and crusty), then you should have a vet take a look. You don’t want to leave something that is treatable to fester.
