I think since they did well on the short ride, I would go for the long trip together, but just an extra carrier handy in case you need to separate them. You also might find the new location really helps with the bonding. So if possible, you can plan to just keep them together once you arrive at the new location (with a contingency plan just in…[Read more]

Be prepared for the possibility that the new bun will be very scared and want to do nothing but hide for a few days. As long as he’s eating and pooping that will pass and it’s totally normal! Keep his territory small at first, especially if he’s scared so he feels safer. Don’t press your own desire for a relationship. Just sit by him and he’ll…[Read more]

I think unless behavior gets worse you’re probably ok to leave them how they are. I have 3 rabbits and 1 of them has to be lot separated and they were all really aggressive at first but it got much better with time. It will be worse for both rabbits until he’s neutered but it isn’t necessarily the end of the world! If Monkey starts chilling out…[Read more]

This is so exciting! ^_^
Regarding expectations: it’s likely that your bun will be a bit busy during the first couple of days, and doesn’t want to be petted yet. That’s natural, but it can be a bit difficult because you’re so happy he’s finally here.
Bunnies need to make a mental map of the new space they’re in, and that can take a couple of…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss 😥 It’s horrible to lose a companion, especially when it’s a rare situation such as this. Spaying a rabbit is the best thing you can do: the chance of them getting cancer is about 80%.
You tried to spare her that horrible fate, because you’re a responsible person who loves animals. Sadly she probably had a hidden…[Read more]

Update! I tried stress bonding for the first time today as the two were getting along decently well. Did a 15 min car trip with them in the same carrier, and they cuddled up during it! Afterwards they were much nicer to each other for a good 30 mins, which is a lot for them. Since they tolerated that alright, do you think that the whole 7 hours…[Read more]

Thanks so much for that information. I am working hard at getting him to eat more to get his strength back. He has lost at least 3 pounds since we first started noticing weight loss in October. I have started giving him ClinicalCare, which is what the vet said in November. At that point he wasn’t showing any weakness yet, but now I realize he p…[Read more]

He might have been neutered a little too early. I know he was several months old but I don’t think he was 9-12 months old. He was probably close to being full grown.

Ciara started the topic Rabbit groomers near Nashua, NH? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 5 months ago
My rabbit has a lot of mats near his bum and his butt is also really dirty. I have tried washing just his butt but it doesn’t really help much. I think he just needs the mats shaved off but I don’t trust myself to do that 😅 does anyone know of a rabbit groomer or vet that will do a sanitary shave on a rabbit near Nashua, New Hampshire?
Thank…

We recently adopted 7-week old sibling Holland Lops, a male and female. We plan to get them spayed/neutered (the local vet will do it at 6 months). We’d love them to be bonded through this but realized they’ll have to be separated fairly soon until after their surgeries. Any advice on keeping them happy and bonded during this separation? They are…[Read more]

The medirabbit page on ear mites (a trusted source, but also content warning, there are some pics of very severe cases: http://medirabbit.com/EN/Skin_diseases/Parasitic/earmite/Psoroptes.htm) recommends cleaning the environment by vacuuming first and then treating with a boric acid treatment:
“Ear mites can fall off and contaminate the…[Read more]
