I give all the vegetables to him by promoting and watching. There are mixed lists of safe vegetables online, incompatible lists. I’m confused, thanks again. ☺️☺️

Not flaky or irritated it’s been like that since I adopted him a month ago but there is still a bald patch on his ears . He scratched himself 2-4 times a day . I just give his food to him.

I’m very glad to hear she is eating and active!
I wouldn’t worry about the mushy poops, I think they will start to resolve.
As far as cleaning her, I’m sure she is very sore, so I think I would just keep her area very clean for now. She also might learn to turn around and eat her cecals off the ground. Did the vet give you instructions to check…[Read more]

Ahhh, that’s so stressful. I’m sorry you are going through that. I think you probably moved too quickly from neutral space back into their home turf. Usually it’s recommended to “cement” the bond for about 48 hours or so before moving them to a new location.
Was either bun injured at all? Wounds can be disguised in fur, so I would check them over…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic BONDING FAILED!! ADVICE NEEDED!! in the forum BONDING 5 years, 4 months ago
I don’t personally agree with “fighting it out” (and I think most rabbit welfare groups are also against this), but there are some things like nipping, chasing, and mounting that sometimes need to happen. And of course sometimes fights happen even with our best efforts to prevent them. Different bonders have different levels of tolerance for fur…[Read more]

Hi Ellie
I cant tell you how happy your message made me. It even brought a happy year to my eye. It’s been a difficult 6 months and it’s such a relief to hear that someone thinks I’m doing a good job. You are so very kind.
Thank you so much for the advice regarding the massage etc. You have such an amazing bond with your rabbit for them to sleep…[Read more]

She has eaten greens, some pellets and some hay.
Her poops are always small size. But the issue is she had some mushy poops too. I think it was from a lot greens which she ate so I stopped that and tried to feed hay instead.
She cannot reach her cecotropes tho, and when I try to “clean” her up down there she becomes angry. And it’s just stuck…[Read more]

I’ve had my rabbits Asterlix and Oberlix since very young (going on 4 years together) and they are sisters from the same litter. They are both spayed and have always gotten along and only ever had one or two fights when establishing dominance in a new area as a result of moving and it seemed to resolve without much intervention.
One bun got s…[Read more]

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic Eating less during molt, is that normal? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 4 months ago
Our bun always gets stomach problems in his first week of moult. He’s always been super hungry during moult, and he has this restless energy for weeks.
We give him 20% more pellets and he’s still putting on the starving bunny act all day. He also goes through his hay a lot quicker.
I’d keep an eye on your bun, and I think Dana made a very good…[Read more]

Oh, that is beautiful! Reminds me a bit of a church with the gothic windows. Sounds like rabbits finally get the recognition they deserve: worship at the altar of bun, and thou shalt be blessed with binkies and love! Shame that the fur raining down upon us doesn’t taste like manna, even though there’s plenty of it. Ah well..

So my friend is an architect, and he made us an epic/cat bunny house! He’s going to pack it flat and ship it on over, will have to take pics once the buns get to play in it. 🙂

So, I have a slightly different take on it… but I think if you found a confident exotics vet closer to you that is good.
It is unusual, but the thing with vets is that they will be able to give her pain meds, fluids, etc. and will be able to syringe feed her the appropriate amount (which is sometimes hard to do at home). Some people have a hard…[Read more]

Don’t agree with the vet there: a spay is more invasive than a neuter, and painkillers are no luxury. As Dana said: Metacam is a good idea.
It’s good news that she’s drinking btw! Maybe she’ll eat a small piece of fruit to get some energy. If she doesn’t feel like eating, hay tea may give her some extra nutrients. It’s what Dutch vets advise as a…[Read more]

You can either give a smaller piece (such as a sprig or two) every day, or you could give a larger portion 2-3 times a week. Another option is that you could save it for treats as a “reward” for your rabbit! Since he is young, make sure to watch to see that your rabbit doesn’t have any trouble eating it!
The House Rabbit Society states,
What…[Read more] -

You’re welcome! I think you made a good decision by finding another vet. We had our bunny neutered, which is a less invasive procedure than a spay. We could pick him up 4 hours after bringing him in, and he recovered at home.
The page I mentioned has a couple of good tips about how to spot a bad vet. “Can my rabbit eat before surgery?” is a good…[Read more]
