That is actually the first time I’ve heard the advice to use a large area rather than a small one. Since you mention it though, I actually think that might be worth trying with my bunnies. I think if the more tense, reluctant male were able to run away, the situation would deescalate more quickly. The reason I think that is every time the other m…[Read more]

You can try a lint roller, the sticky paper-kind. It will catch a lot of the loose hair.

You can also wet your hands and run your fingers through her fur to try and catch as much hair as possible, but a lint roller will pick up hair more effectively.

Hey guys, I just got a rex rabbit not too long ago and since summer is around the corner she has been shedding a whole lot. I was wondering if there is a way I can help her. It will literally be all over me from just petting her and she spends a lot of time licking herself I don’t know if she is overwhelmed or not. I don’t want her to digest all…[Read more]

Some people recommend only working with all three together, but lots of people have success with working on the hardest pair first, so I don’t think that was a bad idea. If they do well with just the two of them and the female makes things harder, then I think working with all three would probably be the most effective going forward. Sometimes the…[Read more]

Thank you for the advice. I have definitely been considering that we may need to just always keep the boys separated. They seem to be fine living side by side; just not in the same living space. So we should be okay to have them living in ex-pens next to each other and just take them out to play separately. I was really hoping they could be…[Read more]

Thanks Dana! Maybe she has had them all along or picked them up from the vet.  Who knows!

We read that baby oil can help so we did put a little bit in her ears and she has actually left her ears alone for the last couple hours.

LBJ10, he very well could be stressed. What comes to mind is RHDV2 and all the stressful bio safety precautions we have been taking, which I’m sure they can sense. I’ll certainly meditate on other stressors as well. Thank you for the reply.

Trios can be very difficult, and not always possible (or maybe possible, but not worth the stress and risk). The simplest thing to do would be to settle with the pair that appears to be bonded, and keep the other male separate, but I’m sure you’ve already considered that!

In this case, if the males are routinely drawing blood, then I would advise…[Read more]

Revolution is a common and effective treatment, you can get it from your vet. I can’t speak to any “home remedies”, I would just get in to your vet when you can. She will be OK if she has to wait a couple days.

Sometimes bunnies can have very low levels of mites and not show symptoms, so it isn’t always possible to know where they came from.

    Wick gave some great tips!

I would recommend putting him on a table if you aren’t already. If you have an assistant, have one person put their hand over the bun’s eyes and head (eyes covered, nose exposed), and other behind the bum so they can’t back up. Usually that is enough to get buns to sit still.

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁

You did everything right by letting him spend time with the body and spending extra time with him, some bunnies take loss harder than others and show their grief in different ways. Syringe feeding him is also the right move if he refuses to eat. I was going to suggest a stuffy, but it sounds like you already have…[Read more]

    Hi All,

We noticed our bunny scratching her ears a lot and noticed her skin in her ears looked a bit dry.  Looking further in to the ear then it looks even worse.  We are thinking ear mites?  We aren’t sure how this happened since she hasn’t had contact with any animals other than our (indoor) cat in weeks.

We will take her to the vet when we ca…[Read more]

    Hi everyone,

I decided to look for help online after trouble with rabbit bonding. I have two males and a female (all neutered/spayed > 2 months ago), and one of the males just does not want to bond at all. He is extremely tense in every situation involving bonding. I’ve had all of them living in an ex-pen that I divided into two separate spaces;…[Read more]

Sadly I lost my beautiful boy spirit on Tuesday and he left his friend coco who is obviously missing him lots too. I let him spend time with his body and at first he gave him a little groom  and sat with him but after that kind of kept his distance. He is barely eating, and spends a huge amount of time in his box constantly digging. He may hop…[Read more]

If you have two people, it is much easier. Below is pasted from a past topic for how I did solo shots with a smaller rabbit. If you have another person, I would recommend that person sit in front of you, holding the rabbit’s front steady and potentially covering its eyes.

    …..

My rabbit (Wick) recently began Penicillin shots (started with…[Read more]
