Thank you for the videos! I tried method 1 and got a tiny amount in her. She just starts flailing everywhere even when you have a good grip and I’m really concerned about her stitches when she does that.
I do wish I would have gotten more in her system but I was thankful to at least get some. She has also woken up periodically and grabbed a p…[Read more] -

So sorry, I didn’t realise that I hadn’t replied to this. I’m pleased to say that this behaviour resolved. We still find the odd clump of Tony’s fur, but probably not even once a week now, which is positive. They are firm friends now, constantly snuggling and grooming… Except for food.

Had Boo in the pen and hear hubby ask, is that one supposed to be on top?
Boo had jumped up onto Walter’s cage and was sitting in her temp litter box.
She could have jumped off and been anywhere with a crazy Aussie on her tail. No, crazy Aussie wouldn’t hurt her, but could sure scare her!
Good thing she has calmed down. No issue picking her u…[Read more]

That sounds like wonderful progress! I would just keep up what you’ve been doing and don’t be too afraid of intervening with lots of petting in the early stages. When things are still a bit tense it can be better to intervene too much just to make sure things don’t escalate. It takes them some time to decide who will do the grooming, etc., so now…[Read more]

This is the picture of her ear. Shockingly she has not been paying a ton of extra attention to it. Her other ear looks normal. And also no head tilt. She was just running around her cage happy before my wife calmed her down to get this picture.

Thanks everyone. This makes me feel a bit better about waiting another day+ for the vet.

Me again! Your suggestion to do more pre-bonding had worked like a charm. Bunnies are doing well in their separate enclosures in the same room. They’ve been there with me switching them around everyday for over 2 weeks now. It took them a while to calm down the first few days but now they’re happy in either one. When I’m home I let them out of…[Read more]

Yes, I think it’s probably time to start transitioning her to an adult ration of pellets. If she doesn’t become more interested in her hay and veggies, then I agree with Dana that it could be a sign that something is wrong. The beginning of GI stasis is probably suspect #1. She’s a bit young for dental problems, but you never know.

Oh that’s a good thought Dana! NZs come in a broken pattern. So yeah, maybe NZ x Angora or NZ x Lionhead.

You’re welcome! 🙂
During pre-bonding, I would actually swap full sides every day or two, or litter boxes if that’s not feasible. You really want them to get ALL up in each other’s scents and start to lose track of territories. LOL

Did you vet give you pain meds? It is important to get some food in her soon. If you can’t feed her yourself, the ER vet could possibly feed her for you. Personally I would try to get the food in myself as it would be less stressful than taking her back to the vet, but if that’s not possible, she does need to eat at this point.
I usually will put…[Read more]

It can be frustrating to convince people that rabbits are not like dogs or cats (where not eating for a day can just mean the animal is tired of its food). 🙁
I’ve found that many people are more aware of the fact that horses have sensitive stomachs and that GI issues in horses can become emergencies (many people are aware of “colic” in horses),…[Read more]

Thank you for the advice I’ll try somethings and update if I remember. It’s nice to have someone else’s opinion because when I’m concerned about my bunny my parents don’t seem to take me seriously and never what to take her to an emergency vet or regular vet after previous experience with other rabbits. I’ve at least convince them to let me take…[Read more]

Wow, thank you for the insight! Yes, their living spaces are directly next to eachother separated by an expen border so they can see and sniff eachother. I’ve also been swapping toys and towels every few days. What you said about the not projecting actually really makes sense because I didn’t think of it that way! Rummy is always more anxious, so…[Read more]

Hello everyone! So I got my bunny spayed today. She has not eaten in about 13 hours and I’m growing concerned. I have tried giving her a variety of veggies, hay, pellets, even a piece of a banana. She will not touch any of it. The vet told me to force feed some critical care to her after it hit the 12 hour mark. I attempted to give her some w…[Read more]

Rabbits are at risk of heat stroke when temps get between 80-85 degrees F, so if you can keep temps below 80 that would be safest for them. But if that’s not always possible, there are some good tips for helping them keep cool here: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/cooling-tips/
I didn’t have AC in the past and my bunnies really appreciated…[Read more]
