He’s cute! To be honest with you another member and I are both dealing with rabbits with cecal dysbiosis that we both think was caused by banana and I would just avoid it. As far as small quantities of other fruits, keep trying and eventually he’ll probably give something a nibble!

My Rabbit, Baylor, is just over a year old. I’ve been introducing new foods to him often, including fresh fruits. However, he hasn’t aten any of the fruits yet, not even banana. I’m thinking this is because maybe he doesn’t realize that it’s food? Any tips on getting him to try some?

Thank you both! I got way too attached to this beautiful lady. She was at the shelter for months without any potential adopters. I was scheduled to meet her Sunday, only to find out she was adopted the day before. I’m happy she got adopted but also saddddd!
now I’m going through the most arduous process to get approved by another rescue. I tot…[Read more]

I replied in the other thread, but pasting it here so it’s all in one place. I think the illness and vet visit could have upset things, but probably mostly because the situation was already a bit fragile:
“So I just read your thread on rabbits online, and I hate to say it, but I personally would not attempt to re-bond. 🙁
I say that just because…[Read more]

I’m just catching up on this, with the recent developments I would try to get her into a vet if possible. Are you still seeing normal poops as well?
Cecal dysbiosis often causes regular poops to get mixed up with cecals, so you usually don’t see normal poops mixed in. There are also parasites that can cause diarrhea and poop problems (like…[Read more]

I agree with tobyluv, speed dating isn’t necessary! And it’s true that some buns just behave so differently at the date that it isn’t always informative.
I like to do dating when I can, but I’m usually just looking to make sure the buns don’t absolutely HATE each other.
I think if there is a bun you would like to adopt then I would go for it.…[Read more]

A fecal float is a good test to see if he has intestinal parasites. Ultrasounds can also be very informative.
Pine shavings can cause some issues long term, but pine pellets are safe because the aromatic compounds are removed in the pelleting process. And it is something that might never cause issues unless the rabbit has to go under anesthesia.…[Read more]

So I just read your thread on rabbits online, and I hate to say it, but I personally would not attempt to re-bond. 🙁
I say that just because I know how much you have been through with them, and the fact that there was a lot of bullying even when they were “bonded”, plus all the issues with food aggression. Having one rabbit with an illness can…[Read more]

Sounds great! It’s hard to advise the next step without knowing exactly what you’ve been doing so far, but in general whatever you did that worked well, keep doing that for longer (so same location, time of day, etc)! When you see those positive behaviors repeated for several sessions/days in a row, then you can keep increasing the time they spend…[Read more]

Hi @Lisa-P&T ,
Since this thread is very old, I’m not sure the OP will respond as I don’t think they have been active on the forums for a long time. You have Tony and Phil right? I know you have been through the ringer with them. 🙁
I’ll leave this thread open for now just in case the OP notices, but in general it’s best not to reply to old…[Read more]

Hi everyone.
I came across this thread in my desperate search for help. People seem to be very knowledgeable and I’d love if anyone could offer advice on my own thread which I will link below. I have 2 female rabbits. One is ultra-dominant, very alpha (even with us, her human slaves!) and they’ve recently had a huge fight, similar to the one…[Read more]

With the simethicone just look for the baby kind. Any pharmacy should have some! One of my rabbits also doesn’t eat much during the day then eats her weight in hay overnight so it definitely can make it hard to figure out what’s going on!
