Sounds like a good plan! I usually don’t introduce litter boxes until I get into the really long sessions anyway (and I use a huge low sided one), so what you’ve been doing is on par with what I do. 🙂

Oh now! Well… I guess they really are twinsies then, huh?

I’ve also used the recovery food from Sherwood (I have both on hand because some bunnies prefer one or the other), so you might look into that one if you are trying to avoid soy. Bonnie and Cooper both seem to really like it. 🙂

Sounds like she’s improving! Yay for poops! Keep up the good work 🙂

Critical Care ordered.
Wish it didn’t have so much soy in it. Ugh, soy and females, usually not good combo.
Hopefully won’t need it for too long.

Thank you.
i had been going in every hour and hand feeding herbs. Asked my partner to give her as much critical care as possible while I ducked out.
we have a poop and a pee! So I’m feeling more hopeful.
if she still refuses hay and pellets in a few hours will continue critical care.
pain meds in 2 hours so hopefully that helps.
going to grab s…[Read more] -

I read an article about guessing she.
From everything I read, looks like she is indeed an adolescent.

Thank you so much.
We will try the longer sessions and I will update.
In the separated X Pens, the timid bunny has a cardboard hidey hole which he uses a lot.
we don’t use it in the bonding sessions because he hides, and because I didn’t want to have any situation where he was cornered. (Although there are two exits) Also the dominant bunny is…[Read more] -

To me it sounds like they are ready for longer sessions, but it doesn’t hurt to be extra sure. You could always try some long sessions during the day first. 🙂 I think longer sessions during the daytime (when the buns are sleepy) will help your timid bun feel more confident and comfortable with your more bold bun. Remember that our buns do pick up…[Read more]

When my Wick was considered underweight, I was told to supplement his daily diet with Critical Care. So once in the morning and once at night, I would feed him as much Critical Care as he wanted (thankfully he really liked it). He would eat like, 8 syringes and then hop away with literally a full belly I could see sway back and forth. We did this…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Is this normal? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 2 months ago
That looks pretty normal to me. It’s not the ‘usual’ big stretch, but I think the size of the foam tile and the fact that the rabbit is probably sleepy just made him/her not be as expressive in the yawn. If you’re notice other unusual posturing, then I would be more concerned.

Hi
Thank you so much for responding. 💕
There have been several stand offs where my daughters  (whose bunnies they are ) will watch and it usually involves the dominant bunny hopping off or falling asleep as in the picture. (Or the submissive will dart off at any slight movement.)
I know I am more anxious watching them – we take it in turns to w…[Read more]

Grooming stand offs are normal! And the behavior you describe sounds very normal in a pair that is very close to being bonded. They sound like they mostly trust each other but are just finalizing a few things. 🙂
I would try to ease off petting them when these requests happen and see what happens. In bonded pairs, not every grooming request will…[Read more]

Hi
I have been reading the forums intently and would love some advice please.
We recently (8 weeks ago) rescued 2 male bunnies from separate shelters. Â (neutered at the shelter.) Â Both were in need of a home and one had a rough start being rescued from a very bad hoarding situation. This bunny was terrified of everything and everyone – despite b…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Clogged scent glands in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 2 months ago
Some buns need them cleaned every month or two, but for most buns it’s not as frequent, maybe every several months or not at all. And sometimes after a cleaning the bun does better with keeping them clean themselves.
So I wouldn’t worry about it since you already go to the vet for nail trims. You could have your vet check and do them for you if…[Read more]

Vets can sometimes get a sense based on the teeth and the way the hips are. Young buns tend to have their back feet more parallel, and their feet tend to turn out a bit as they age. It wouldn’t be exact, but could get you in the ball park of young, vs. middle aged, vs. senior.

It’s very good she nibbled some greens on her own. Keep offering her favorite things. The way bunny digestive tracts work, they must eat for poops to be moved through, so after a period of not eating much, there may not be many poops. When recovering from something stressful, calm and consistent supportive care is most important, and improvements…[Read more]
