Hey all!
just wanted to update and let everyone know after a stressful 24 hours umi is eating, pooping, peeing, hopping and definitely in the clear 🙂I may have been a bit overly dramatic – I think because a bun I followed on Insta recently passed from GI stasis I was on high alert.
worst part now is the next 2 pain meds syringes. But just so…[Read more]

Cinnamon Bun replied to the topic Eating her liquid cecotropes of the floor? ♥ (I'm worried) ♥ in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
Yes, she’s eating plenty of hay! She ate some at the vet while we were waiting. She’s been on the hay diet for about 4-5 days now, and I think I’m seeing lesser liquid cecotropes. The vet did listen to her stomach, and said he felt a few gas bubbles, but she’s acting and eating okay. They checked her eyes, ears, nose and weighed her. The…[Read more]

Hi
in response to the power play- do you think the submissive rabbit is deliberately lowering head in response to being groomed as a way to try to be dominant? He lies absolutely flat the the ground and freezes. If the other bun backs away he relaxes like a loaf and reverts to flat if he tries to lower head for a groom again?
the submissive will…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Does my rabbit have bladder sludge ? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
If there are hard marble-like bumps on either side, then that probably means his scent glands are clogged. That stuff can become very hard and is difficult to get out. Sometimes people have to use a water-based lubricant on a cotton swab to ease it out.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit on oral baytril in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
I don’t think you’re experiencing anything unusual. Baytril can make bunnies not want certain foods, but as long as he’s still eating something then it shouldn’t be a big deal. Keep in mind that antibiotics don’t taste very good. They try to cover it up by mixing it with a syrup… but some bunnies can still tell. So if he doesn’t like the taste…[Read more]

Yep, I wouldn’t worry too much. I’ve found a “forgotten” one here and there. It generally isn’t a sign that anything is wrong. I would only be suspicious if it was excessive.

My rabbit seems to lose a bit of appetite on oral baytril or aventi GI paste. The GI paste is to prevent him from like side effects from the baytril l, but he doesn’t seem to like the taste of the paste. He actually like the paste at first but on the third day he’s been avoiding it and I have put the paste on oxbow digestive system tablets and tha…[Read more]

Long lost sisters perhaps??

Sounds like a good plan! I usually don’t introduce litter boxes until I get into the really long sessions anyway (and I use a huge low sided one), so what you’ve been doing is on par with what I do. 🙂

I’ve also used the recovery food from Sherwood (I have both on hand because some bunnies prefer one or the other), so you might look into that one if you are trying to avoid soy. Bonnie and Cooper both seem to really like it. 🙂

Critical Care ordered.
Wish it didn’t have so much soy in it. Ugh, soy and females, usually not good combo.
Hopefully won’t need it for too long.

Thank you.
i had been going in every hour and hand feeding herbs. Asked my partner to give her as much critical care as possible while I ducked out.
we have a poop and a pee! So I’m feeling more hopeful.
if she still refuses hay and pellets in a few hours will continue critical care.
pain meds in 2 hours so hopefully that helps.
going to grab s…[Read more] -

I read an article about guessing she.
From everything I read, looks like she is indeed an adolescent.

Thank you so much.
We will try the longer sessions and I will update.
In the separated X Pens, the timid bunny has a cardboard hidey hole which he uses a lot.
we don’t use it in the bonding sessions because he hides, and because I didn’t want to have any situation where he was cornered. (Although there are two exits) Also the dominant bunny is…[Read more] -

To me it sounds like they are ready for longer sessions, but it doesn’t hurt to be extra sure. You could always try some long sessions during the day first. 🙂 I think longer sessions during the daytime (when the buns are sleepy) will help your timid bun feel more confident and comfortable with your more bold bun. Remember that our buns do pick up…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Putting weight on, suggestions? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 2 months ago
When my Wick was considered underweight, I was told to supplement his daily diet with Critical Care. So once in the morning and once at night, I would feed him as much Critical Care as he wanted (thankfully he really liked it). He would eat like, 8 syringes and then hop away with literally a full belly I could see sway back and forth. We did this…[Read more]
