The urine soaked bedding can sometimes be a bit to strong and might “burn” your plants, but the poop can definitely can be applied directly!

Sounds like it’s going well!
As for the space, I would go to another neutral space. I wouldn’t use the main room just yet. Double x-pens sounds like a good size space to use. Chasing is an interesting one, because the main reason we stop it is that it can lead to fighting. But if the buns have space to get away from each other, often the chase…[Read more]

So in case anyone else stumbles on this while looking for advice, I talked to the vet this morning and she is an exotics specialist. She told me that there are actually Timothy pellets with no other added ingredients at all and that’s what she recommended I feed him. I did manage to find one called Exotic Nutrition Timothy Pellets that I’m going…[Read more]

The advice is all over the place because dif things work for dif buns (and bonders)!
I would just pick the version that works best for you and give it a shot. If it doesn’t go well, then reassess and try a bigger or smaller space. If they’ve been doing well in the bathroom, I would just keep using that space and extend the session…[Read more]

Are there any rescues in your area? They may be able to help place her into foster care, or help find a home. The bonder you’ve been in contact with might also have some ideas or ways to help.
I think with any animal finding the right adopter is key, and although she has her challenges, she would still be an amazing bun in the right home. I would…[Read more]

Any poop is good. No matter if its smeary or mishapen. Poop means sth is moving in there.
Rabbits do groom themselves a lot. It’s a much better sign than if he were to just lie down and not move.
Id hold off on massage since his belly is hard. You might however very, very gently and softly “tap”on his sides like in this…[Read more]

I mean that is all he does is sit up right and groom himself and then lay down again, I normally groom him twice myself.
All he is pooping is cecotropes, and that too very less should I be worried?

When you mention overgrooming, what signs are you seeing? Rabbits actually groom themselves a lot, especially during a molt. Lots of fur will come off, and that is natural.

His stomach is tight like a balloon right now. I gave him Meloxicam and Simethicone just now. He is not showing any interest in eating rn. I don’t have access to Critical Care but I can make some if need be.
He is not moving at all and is over grooming which I am afraid will make things worse.
I really don’t know what else to do, the vets are…[Read more]

Does she live in the same cage as the rats? I totally agree that she needs a vet visit asap but I so hope she has her own space away from the rats for her to go to and relax.

Oh I’ve never knew that could happen definetly a vet visit then. It’s probably good to note too this started happening around the time I got pet rats. She doesn’t bother with them she just sits around their cage much to their disapproval but could it be related?

The hay hoarding sounds like false nesting. If she isn’t spayed that’s likely what’s happening with that.
I definitely recommend a vet visit as well. At her age and not spayed she is very likely to have reproductive cancer. If you catch it early the vet can often remove it all during the spay procedure.

I’m not familiar with the medications prescribed, aside from the metacam.
It sounds to me like your bun might need supportive care to get gut function back, sometimes giving a lot of different medications will make things worse if the vet is not rabbit experienced. Are you doing any syringe feeding? Even if he’s eating, critical care can help wit…[Read more]

The majority of her poops are normal dry poops it’s just the odd few but not often but the behaviour with the hay isn’t normal she still eats it but it’s as though she’s hoarding it? She’s did this once before when she had a phantom pregnancy. She isn’t sprayed should I get her sprayed?

Unfortunately I don’t think there is any good one size fits all advice. I know a lot of people swear by larger areas but my girl gets aggressive in larger areas and I have a much easier time when I have them in a small area. You’ll need to monitor the situation and make adjustments to fit your own bunnies. Start with your gut on what to do based…[Read more]

My Bunny is 3 year old male, who has been sick for 3 months now! I have consulted two different vets and have sifted through all the rabbit specific portals but nothing seems to work!
He has had varied symptoms since early April.
At first his poop was semi-solid along with the normal poop too but later his problem began to worsen. Weight loss,…[Read more]

Is your rabbit spayed?
Considering you’ve had her for 4 years and these are new behaviors/observations, I think that merits a visit to a rabbit-savvy vet. Behavior changes can be indicative that something is going on, especially since you’re observing changes in stool. Loose, soft stool is not a good sign in rabbits since their diet should be…[Read more]
