Cinnamon Bun replied to the topic I'm scared… this is getting worse and worse… in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago

Thank you @pinkiemarie ♥  This is a stressful situation, and I’m always having to keep monitoring her and cleaning her off… I really hope it starts to improve. I have a question though; Should I take her back to the vet? Or should I give her a probiotic and keep on dealing with it myself?

I’m sorry she still isn’t improving but thankfully the mods here are really well informed to help fill in gaps when you don’t have access to a rabbit specialist veterinarian!

I’m very sorry about your loss. She is binkying freely now, and I hope that gives you peace of mind.

Welcome to Binkybunny Rabby! Since this is an older topic and is generally resolved, I’m going to close it– however, I welcome you to create your own topic if you’d like thoughts and feedback regarding the cage you pictured and questions you may have about Mickey and rabbit care in general.

I will note that that cage is very small, so that only…[Read more]

OMG, thanks Bam. I just trusted my gut and look… it’s unsafe. You can’t trust any vets here. I don’t think are ANY actual rabbit-savvy vets. Some are better than others but they still have very limited knowledge. I have actually used spectinomycin before years ago on both my buns (one with an abscess, and one with tummy trouble). It worked on my…[Read more]

I agree with Wick, I have a pair of bonded neutered males and one is pretty aggressive and the other is super chill. You would think the aggressive one would be dominant but the chill one actually won dominance by just calmly putting his head under the other one’s head over and over and over again. I’m not sure how the dominance will work out in…[Read more]

It’s not uncommon for there to be disproportionate grooming in a bonded pair. I’ve read about (and also currently have) pairs where essentially only one rabbit grooms the other, and that’s how the hierarchy was established.

I personally would say move forward, and if you see signs it’s not going well, remember you can always go back! It’s hard…[Read more]

Would you be able to provide a picture? Is there watering or swelling that occurs?

“Early signs of teeth disease” is vague — can you provide details? You didn’t mention x-rays being done, and when I think of teeth things impacting eye-things, I think of overgrown teeth roots that grow back further into the gum and irritate the back side of the…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Help! My rabbit is going into stasis! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago

It isnt stasis since things are moving through. It sounds more like a lingering bout of cecal dysbiosis. You could try probiotics, it wont harm.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic 3 male bonding – were friends before in the forum BONDING 5 years, 2 months ago

Rabbits who have not yet reached the hormonal, puberty stages of growth often get along with other rabbits easily. It is likely this, rather than them being related that allowed them to get along. Rabbits do not acknowledge family units like we do — they will fight and mate with siblings and parents all the same, so the progression you are…[Read more]

I can’t speak to megacolon in bunnies (though it’s my understanding even albino buns can have megacolon). I always thought megacolon presented as large poops as well as intermittent diarrhea, so I’m interested to hear what some of the more knowledgeable members have to say.

As the owner of a bun with a sensitive tummy, simethicone can be given…[Read more]

Cinnamon Bun replied to the topic Help! My rabbit is going into stasis! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago

My bun went to the vet not so long ago and they also took a fecal test. She’s had lots of bubbles in her tummy area and some mishappen poops. A lot are normal, but then they’ll be some liquidy, oval shaped poops. She’s active and eating and drinking fine, though. This isn’t stasis… is it?
