Rabbits who have not yet reached the hormonal, puberty stages of growth often get along with other rabbits easily. It is likely this, rather than them being related that allowed them to get along. Rabbits do not acknowledge family units like we do — they will fight and mate with siblings and parents all the same, so the progression you are…[Read more]

Oh my goodness this is heartbreaking to hear. I’m so incredibly sorry! I know this doesn’t take away any pain, but I hope you find even the smallest bit of comfort knowing you you did everything in your power to help your bun. Sending love and healing vibes your way ♥️

I can’t speak to megacolon in bunnies (though it’s my understanding even albino buns can have megacolon). I always thought megacolon presented as large poops as well as intermittent diarrhea, so I’m interested to hear what some of the more knowledgeable members have to say.
As the owner of a bun with a sensitive tummy, simethicone can be given…[Read more]

My bun went to the vet not so long ago and they also took a fecal test. She’s had lots of bubbles in her tummy area and some mishappen poops. A lot are normal, but then they’ll be some liquidy, oval shaped poops. She’s active and eating and drinking fine, though. This isn’t stasis… is it?

That contains oregano and rosemary oils. I don’t think it’s a good idea to use it.

Oh and he is a white albino so suspecting megacolon was not too obvious for me in the beginning.

I am trying that but it tells me that I am not allowed to add photos to this post.
I also think that he is suffering from megacolon disease. I have no help from the vet in explaining anything about his condition.
He had extremely soft poop today and it is very worrying. The weight loss is happening prior to the deworming. I don’t want to stress…[Read more]

Rex bunnies can be prone to sore hocks no matter what you do. They just don’t have that cushion of fur there. If they aren’t bleeding, then you could try to soften the area with some bag balm or plain diaper rash cream. A lot of people have had luck with providing memory foam bathmats to walk on. I’m not sure if wrapping them at this point is…[Read more]

Happy to hear he is improving. From my experience, Azithromycin takes a bit longer to kick in so I’m glad you stuck with it. Keep it up! You want to make sure the infection is gone for sure.

Did you use the Add Media button to add photos?
It can cause loss of appetite and diarrhea in dogs… not sure about rabbits. There is no information on Medirabbit’s website. It is only listed as “safe” to use.
The lethargy and weight loss are concerning. However, it sounds like the weight loss was occurring before the Pyrantel. Also, the…[Read more]

A fecal test was done and it was negative for nay parasite. He still asked me to give him the dewormer.
Everything was turning out to be just fine yesterday and today he had that liquid poop and so so much of it. I don’t know what to do and who to go to.

That’s great to hear! It’s also great to know the medication will continue thru lack of symptoms too, as often antibiotics are stopped too soon. I think an additional week from no-sneezing is a good amount of time to ensure all the infection has been taken care of, though I am not a vet!

I showed them a pic of the poops she’s been having and because it honestly seems like she was slowly improving even off of the Reglan, they said that we can just try continuing her pain meds instead of the Reglan, and she can probably pull herself out of this. Maybe the pain is from inflammation in her gut or residual gas. I hope it works. This is…[Read more]

Aww.. your story made me feel better. I am actually really curious about this though because I suspect her problem may be dental, but two different vets checked her in the past few weeks for dental issues and said they were “perfect.” Previously she had sharp points on her teeth that had to be shaved down (this was years ago). But if she had…[Read more]

So happy!!!! Azithromycin has finally worked!! Ernesto is no longer sneezing and there’s no more nasal discharge!!! No side effects either! We’ve got one more week to go, but my baby is feeling so much better.
Thank you all for your patience and support!
