That’s a really tough situation. 🙁
I agree with Wick that maybe a housing set up change would help things a bit (and may also make the situation less stressful for you). Not sure what type of pen set up you have, but I usually like to use NIC cubes to make side-by-side condos for pre-bonding. You can either leave a 4-6 inch gap so they can’t nip…[Read more]

Thanks for the update! Sounds like you are ready for overnight sessions!
I usually add one big (brand new) litter box when we’re well into the marathon and they are doing well. I’ve found when I add it too early it causes disputes, but being able to share a box is one of my metrics for a pair being bonded. I start out with lots of pee pads on the…[Read more]

I’m sorry you are having trouble with your bun, 3 times is a lot for stasis. 🙁
Do you think he might be due for a dental filing? What antibiotic was he put on?
I know that @Wick ‘s bunny will lose his litter box habits when his teeth are hurting him, so maybe everything is related to his teeth? Dental pain can definitely cause stasis issues due…[Read more]

Maybe you could put down puppy pee pads and change them frequently? Can you describe his cage set up a bit more just to help visualize what might work?
I wonder about underlying medical issues too. I also have an older male bun who tends to pee outside his box more as he ages, and I had him fully checked out (urinalysis, x-rays) to make sure…[Read more]

Is she is eating and acting fine, that’s great! Also great that she doesn’t have the “charlie” markings that are tied to the condition. My poor little guy was in a lot of pain and wouldn’t eat during gas episodes. There was another bunny at the time in the shelter that also had soft poop issues and he got daily cisapride as maintenance (he didn’t…[Read more]

thank you for the advice:) Theyve been together for about 16 hours now and have been doing good! (sharing food, litter box, grooming from the female etc) Theyre also in a bigger space and it hasn’t been an issue. We plan on watching them in there for another day to make sure there aren’t any problems. The male is still mounting every once in a wh…[Read more]

Bonding can definitely be anxiety producing, and one or both rabbits being aggressive is pretty much the primary reason why it can be an arduous task for many owners– you are not alone, and it’s not necessarily impossible, especially if they were bonded before.
From what you provided, I do not see mention of having them share a space separated…[Read more]

Current update in case people read this bonding saga in the future:
The bunnies are doing really well. The past few days I’ve had some AC issues where I couldn’t use neutral area as much, but we made due. Still some chases from Little miss (I think I’ve almost decided on a forever name) when wolfie stops grooming. She tries to groom him somet…[Read more]

Her stomach is honestly really really squishy And I hear big time gurgles. We ended up seeing that she was chewing on a plastic piece In her cage yesterday and wondering if she swallowed a little piece which is causing her pain. Whenever this happens we give her gas drops and within a couple hours she is fine and back to her normal Self. Gotta go…[Read more]

Chronic cecal dysbiosis…. oh no. Binkie’s two years old, and she’s been sick with different problems so she has dealt with weight loss several times, but she seems to be a healthy weight, now. She is eating her cecotropes, however, off of the floor. I just don’t know if I can keep up with it, and I really hope it’s not chronic. She’s an American…[Read more]

They tend to look like this — bath mats are not made from loofah. They tend to be advertised as being made from memory foam!

Please help
My bunny is a 9 year old male, and he’s going through his 3rd bit of stasis this year. The first time was due to overgrown teeth, the second time was due to gas, and this time seems to be a combination of teeth and pain.
He was just in the vet today for urine scalding, so I know he’s not feeling his best because of that. Up until…[Read more]
