LBJ10 replied to the topic Unable to Neuter Rabbit but I want to get him a companion. in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
I wouldn’t say it is impossible, as there are always exceptions to the rule. But Wick is correct, it would be extremely difficult to successfully bond him to another rabbit. Hormones have a way of getting in the way… even if he is “chill” when he is alone. You just never know how he will react to another rabbit and how that rabbit would react toward him.

If the growth is growing rapidly, then there is a risk of the skin rupturing. Your vet is sure it isn’t an abscess? Why is removing it not an option?

hi this is my first post here so I’m sorry if I make any mistakes. I have a 9 year old bun, about 2-3 months ago a growth appeared on his left shoulder-neck area out of nowhere and has since grown much bigger. We got it checked at the vet and it’s suspected to be lymphatic cancer, not an abscess as there was no wound nor opening and it fairly fir…[Read more]

Megacolon symptoms can vary when it comes to poop. Other symptoms are weight loss and lethargy. A severe case of cecal dysbiosis can lead to weight loss as well. Since we don’t know what it is for sure, I think your best bet would be to try to do a “cleanse” of the gut. That means a hay only diet for a while to see if the gut can rebalance itself.

She does look like she could be a cross between a rex and a lop. The rex fur gene is recessive, so that would explain why your bunny doesn’t have a rex fur. And the ears do look very lop-like. Lop mixes will often have helicopter ears, some more than others. As for the color, she looks like she is broken agouti. The broken pattern is common in rex…[Read more]

Hello! This is Jupiter, and I was just curious about her breed/coat color. The breeder said she was a rex + lop accidental breed, but I want to have opinions from other people. She’s about 8-9 months old, and has a coat color I don’t quite know how to describe. It’s dark brown with golden streaks above it? She also has quite a large dewlap which I…[Read more]

Hey Wick,
Thanks once again. I’m so desperate to do the right thing and feeling so lost that I really appreciate any advice.
Do you think it would be okay to move them into the office (Monkey’s old room) in side by side enclosures, and also let them take turns free roaming in there? If so, I think that’s what my gut is telling me to do. I would…[Read more]

I saw that you posted on another rabbit forum (I am active on both, haha), so I’ll keep my replies here.
Firstly, I am very much a proponent that there are multiple “right” ways to go about bonding. The only “wrong” decisions are leaving rabbits together unsupervised or introducing one into another’s territory, in my opinion. Everything else is…[Read more]

That doesn’t look too bad! It’s good that there is still some fur coverage, because that’s going to add some cushioning.
I think aside from flooring and checking each day, you can simply continue to monitor the situation.

Thank you, Dana! In an hour it will be 48 hrs! They sleep together and cuddle and there hasn’t been any aggression or chasing. I feel they just needed that 24 hr exposure to firm up relationship, instead of separating them at night (but obviously necessary during the bonding process).

So here’s another pickle I’m in. I’ve been bonding at my fa…[Read more]

That’s really great news!
I usually like to wait at least 48 hrs in each step. But the good news is that once they are solid in one space, you don’t need to supervise as closely in that space. So I’ve always tended to leave them in the neutral space longer than probably needed, but will sometimes leave them alone for a bit during the day when…[Read more]

His previous homeowners didnt introduce him to hay which is not entierly their fault, hay is not readily available in my country. The hay online is as bad as it can be, I too get it imported from a different state. I feed him doob grass.
His poop has been soft and almost liquid since last night. Vet Clinics are closed on a Sunday and we dont…[Read more]

Unfortunately my choice in flooring is limited because she tries to eat most of it. There is low-pile carpet in there now, but she gets exercise time outside of the pen on hardwood floor, so I think that she has been outside of the pen more lately to get some exercise to get her gut moving and the fact that I went too long for the nail trim caused…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I’m feeling emotionally drained, so please be kind. This is a bit of an essay but I’ve tried to explain the issues as concisely as possible…
TL;DR – which of these setups would be best?? (see the final bullet points)
BACKGROUND STORY:
I’ve been bonding my bunnies – a male angora mini lop and female nethie. Both fixed. In short,…[Read more]
