How old are your rabbits?
If they are young (under 6 months or so) they can be free-fed, meaning you can leave their pellets out for them.
If your bunnies normally finish their pellet ration right away and suddenly don’t finish them, that means they could be feeling sick or in pain.

Hmmm, it could be early stages of fur mites. It’s a bit hard to tell from the photos, but with fur mites sometimes the skin just looks a bit dry in the early stages. I’ve seen fur mites present first on the back of the ear, so the location fits.
Fur mites are often present on rabbits but never show symptoms, and then occasionally flair up for…[Read more]

So if the amount of pellets you’re providing is too much, no. Reduce the pellets and take away the bowl. If you are feeding a fine amount, it is fine to leave the bowl overnight. That being said, a rabbit not finishing pellets is sort of unusual so I’d be curious on what you’re feeding your rabbits that pellets are left over.

Hi Bunstar!
I haven’t tried the Fur Buster comb yet. I have a similar brush for my cats that works wonders on the long haired one, though!
Yeah, holding/picking up buns can be stressful for everyone involved lol. Fortunately, Caesar is pretty mellow and doesn’t get too upset. 🙂
Thank you for the suggestion!

Yes, the first 3 photos are on one side and the last on the other.
It might be a molting pattern but I haven’t seen this happen before and he seems to be constantly molting lol
Do their patterns change sometimes ?

Is it hot where you are? I think a lot of bunnies are feeling sluggish right now just because of the heat. Otherwise, the slowdown could be due to age. Is he fairly young? Young bunnies tend to become a bit less active as they transition into adulthood.

Is this in front of both ears? I wonder if this is some sort of shed/molt pattern.

So, I could be just overly worried. But my buns isn’t as active as before and I’m starting to worry. This only happened recently.
He does jump around and does binkies, he does flop, he does show behaviours of a happy rabbit. He is also eating fine, just restocked his hay because he finished it. Water intake is normal. But he’s just not as activ…[Read more]

Hi all,
My bunny is almost a year old and he’s my first rabbit I’ve ever had. A day or two ago I realized he may be losing a bit of hair on his head, right in front of the ears. He normally scratches somewhat frequently and I think he is doing so more often now but I don’t know if he actually is or it’s just me paying more attention to it now.

I honestly have no conception of what 35g of pellets is… I measure in cup sizes (1/8, 1/4…) and I’d use my kitchen scale to measure, but my rabbits get crazy when I open the pellet jar so I can’t risk doing that right now, haha.
How much pellets you feed your rabbit is going to depend mostly on the rabbit’s age, and then their size. In my…[Read more]

Thank you taking the time to read my lengthy post! I appreciate any advice. If anyone knows of a bonding expert I can connect to ( I am in SF Bay Area), please let me know.
My biggest concerns are: male biting female, (this gives me a lot of anxiety), female being too forward and “fast” (dont know how else to describe it lol) toward male to start…[Read more]
