they are so cute! If they can come in and get cooler and you don’t let them out at all in the midday I think they should be fine. Maybe put an frozen water bottle or cool tile out there with them and see if they use it? Oh and sure you are already, but make sure they have plenty of water. I wonder if the infection is partially making them like the…[Read more]

I tend to think of bunnies, especially young ones, as a lot like puppies!
They need exercise and stimulation for sure, but also to be in a safe secure area when unsupervised (and the exercise area should be bunny proofed).
To answer your questions:
- Is it bad not to allow him to free roam the house for his own safety?
There are varying…[Read more]

Oh boy, I’m sorry this happened. Don’t blame yourself, these things can happen very quickly, bunnies are sneaky. 😉 Thank you for saving her, she’s lucky that you took her in!
What is the temperature like where you’re keeping her? Is she still staying in the garage? If she is, could there be fumes from cars or anything like that that she might…[Read more]

I agree with others, so very lame of the vet!
That said, don’t panic. Keep your bun calm and as comfortable as possible, and make sure she’s eating. If she doesn’t eat on her own, syringe feed her.
We have had members who’s vets didn’t give them pain meds at all (!) and the buns were all OK. It is so horrible to think of our bunnies in pain for…[Read more]

Does anyone know if the vaccine will be available in Canada? It would be nice to prevent infecting more rabbits here before it spreads all over. ): I keep worrying about it every day, even though I can’t find any reported cases in my province. I’m still scared that it will spread here soon. I want to protect my bunnies.

Thank you for rescuing her! Accidents happen, so it’s great you are looking out for both mom and babies!
Since it has been ongoing for a while and given her history, the best thing would be to have a vet check her out. It could be allergies, but usually that diagnosis comes after ruling out all other causes. Perhaps you could explain to your…[Read more]

Please no judgment I just want to help my bunny. To preface this I should tell you that the rabbit in question, mustache, a sixth month old large mixed breed bunny, just had an accidental litter of kits around 12 days ago. During the heatwave that came through my town about a month and a half ago we had to move all of our bunnies to the garage…[Read more]

I didn’t know this about extruded pellets, either. My bun, Binkie, was going through cecal dybiosis (soft and runny cecotropes), and Science Selective pellets cleared up her cecal dysbiosis gloriously… she’s back to normal now. It was stressful but we got through it. I hope everything turns out okay with your adorable bun! ♥

While unfortunate that you are in this situation and ultimately a vet practice should at least fully inform you on their situation, I know that in my area of the US, there has actually been an extreme shortage in resources and staff in veterinary practices, especially exotics, which were already less common. With increased demand due to the spike…[Read more]

Wow they sound like they need reported then, they definitely should have rescheduled any bunny after they ran out, especially given they aren’t willing to get you some from another vet. So there are more rabbits they did at low cost that day that also have to suffer. Unprofessional and cruel. Sorry you and bunny have to go through this, and…[Read more]

Agree with LBJ. They need at least 4 hours of free running time a day in a bunny proofed room. The rabbit cages you can buy at pet stores are usually way too small, if that’s what you have I would recommend that you attach the exercise pen to the cage so that he has access to both when he’s locked up.
Rabbits will chew on anything and everything.…[Read more]

I know what it’s like. It’s so hard, and it hurts so much, and you constantly wonder when the unbearable pain and grief will end. I lost my precious baby boy, Usagi, and I haven’t got over it yet. It’s been over two whole years, and I still can’t think of him or say his name without bursting into tears, or shattering my heart to pieces. I ‘m still…[Read more]

If your bun eats fresh greens, f ex lettuce you can rinse the leaves and serve them wet. If a rabbit gets fresh greens, the rabbit will drink way less than a rabbit that only 3ats hay and pellets.
Is your rabbit pooping normally? If a rabbit doesnt drink the poop will become sparse and very dry, or, if its really bad, stop pooping altogether.…[Read more]

My mini rex is about 7 months old. Just in case any of this is relevant: she is a bit overweight. She drinks from a bowl. She free-roams, except for when I need to sleep. She has two bowls – one in her cage and one on the other side of my room. She was a little stressed last night because the two of us had to temporarily move to my sister’s room,…[Read more]
