Thank you so much š I will pass your hug to her!
I think I was in a battle between heart and mind – selfishly wanting to get her through surgery and recover to have more time with her. But if I really think about how much stress, fear, and pain she would be in… She wouldn’t want that. Cried long and hard yesterday, but I have finally admitted…[Read more]

Thank you for your kind words <3
She is doing a lot better today, I finally feel comfortable leaving her for a bit to go out and run errands. She is eating all her greens, eating some hay, although not quite as much as I want her to. Her poops are a bit dark but I will take what I can get!
I think you’re right about needing more information to…[Read more]

I second Wick about dental x-rays. The first vet I took my Vilde to when he fell ill saw nothing wrong with his teeth. The rabbit savvy vet I took him to the next day did a full xray of his teeth, and from them it was beyond any doubt clear that he indeed had a dental problem.
Fresh grass, if you can get pesticide free grass, has very good…[Read more]

I agree that getting it to a level now that is a bit more manageable via shaving would be good. If you have not done this before/are not comfortable, definitely request a rabbit-experienced exotic vet to do it; not a pet groomer. See here for a list: rabbit.org/vet-listings
Once at a more manageable length, regular maintenance/grooming would…[Read more]

The best thing would be to have the vet do a āsanitary shaveā of the bad areas so you can just start fresh.
Also I have to say heĀ is so ridiculously cute!!

I miss my Betta’s. My favorite was a Mustard Gas Dragonscale male. Bettas can be surprisingly finicky when it comes to water. Everything can seem fine even the readings can be fine but something will just set them off and they die.

It may be worth doing an x-ray to get a nice visual of the teeth. X-rays don’t need to be done under anesthesia — a light sedative might be enough in some cases, depending on the rabbit (though I’ve never had a rabbit’s head x-rayed; only other parts of the body). If it is dental, I’d lean more towards the surgery since the current eating habits…[Read more]

Hello, I have a 1.5 lbs., 5 month old buck, Netherland Dwarf Fuzzy named Ollie. When I got him he was covered in mats. Please help me. I have brushed, combed, cut his hair but unable to get all the mats. Itās really bad around his private area, and back feet. Is there anything I can get for a fuzzy, long haired dwarf bunny? Can I wet him and add a…[Read more]

Thank you so much, DanaNM!Ā I really appreciate it.
The vet did say that some of the weight loss over the past year could be just muscular atrophy with age (and he has spondylosis; he does seem stiffer these days).Ā We introduced the oats just a couple of months ago but I don’t know how much of an effect they would be expected to h…[Read more]

Well, only you can decide.Ā Reminder quality of life is the most important factor.
Personally, at this stage, I would focus on that and keeping her happy and comfortable.
Keep us posted!Ā Hugs to y’all.

I’ve been hearing a lot of positive things about CBD as well (I have a friend who gives it to her arthritic bun). If you get hemp-sourced it has no THC in it, but yeah I don’t know about potential drug interactions.
Both gabapentin and metacam are used in humans too, so there may be some info out there on possible interactions (but of course the…[Read more]

Ohhh this is a tough one. I would probably want to get a second opinion from a very rabbit savvy vet if possible. I don’t know that I would want to do a dental procedure unless I was very sure it was a problem.
That said, the weight loss even with the oats is troublesome and having kind of inconsistent eating habits is a symptom of dental pain.…[Read more]

I’m sorry you are going through this! š
I think it will be important to work closely with a vet who is very rabbit savvy and see what they say once they have more info.Ā I agree that stabilizing her first is important.
It will be important to find a vet that does a lot of rabbit spays and rabbit surgeries in general. I do know of a couple case…[Read more]

Hi everyone!Ā šĀ I’m writing with a question about molars and senior care.
Teddy turned 12 back in May and has been acting happy, though over the past few months his eating’s been more variable.Ā He still eats hay, and is normally VERY enthusiastic about the rolled oats we’ve introduced (~1 Tbsp per day sprinkled on his pellets), but his in…[Read more]

Yes these are great suggestions and have really helped Thank you. My profile photo is of her snuggling up to her “doughnut”.

I emailed them and for a similar response. It seems safe enough and I’m optimistic. Some herbs are very effective at reducing anxiety.. Though I’m sure it’s not going to eradicate it, it’s could still make an improvement. I’ll let you know the results.
I have heard Cbd is great my friends pets have had great results for arthritis and mood but…[Read more]
