Hello,
I was wondering how much hay you all buy for your bunnies for the winter.
I have 2 female bunnies, they are both about 5 months and weight 2.5 pounds. I was wondering if anyone knew how much hay I would need to buy them for the winter.

Number 1 looks more low pile and low pile is always better for avid chewers! 🙂

Rabbits can act very differently through a pen wall vs. when having real access to each other. As the owner of the space, some might interpret Rodders being by the pen as a dominant, rude move, expressing “Ha, this is my space. You can’t get here. I own this and am so relaxed.” … If possible, I’d encourage swapping Rodder and Lily’s space every…[Read more]

It is money consuming to buy toys that don’t last long, but that also means they are ‘good’ toys for redirecting your rabbits energy! I regularly purchase cat scratchers for my Fable since she spends most her energy on destroying them.

Hi all
I have read many of the posts which have all been helpful. I’m now looking at help with the next step in bonding these two. I’ve filled the bonding template below.

Spay/Neuter
Are your bunnies spayed/neutered? Yes
If so, for how long (for each)? Rodders has been neutered 4 months. Lily 2 months.
Housing
Please describe your bu…[Read more]

With any rugs, you just have to keep an eye on whether they are chewing and eating them, so it will be a bit of trial and error. The lower-pile one (I think the first one?) would probably be less tempting for them to nibble. I don’t like to have any carpet in the bun’s main pens (where they are unsupervised).
I recently got these cotton rugs from…[Read more]

Hmmm, the might ignore it. If they chew it, it wouldn’t be the same purpose as the cardboard. Keep and eye on loops of sisal that they might catch their teeth on, or if it has stuffing inside. The benefit of the cardboard is it gives them something to destroy that is safe and not your flooring.

It sounds like they are doing really well with each other, but I actually see the fact that he’s still withdrawn as more reason to give him more time to settle in. I think you could start daily side swaps soon though. Bonding itself is very stressful and moving to a new home is very stressful, so giving the bun time to recover from moving before…[Read more]

Okay, thank you. My rabbits destroyed the cardboard cat scratcher I got in 2 days, so I was looking for something that is the same idea just might last longer.

By start the bonding, I wonder could we even do a short session just to test the waters? Hard to know what the right thing to do is… I trust your advice to do the swaps back and forth but could we do short sessions while doing mini bonding sessions? As you can tell, I don’t handle pressure well 😅

Hi again,
So I did as you said and moved food and litter trays near each other so they can eat together and no issues, thank goodness.
The only thing is I’m coming under a bit of pressure from his previous owner and my own partner to start the bonding. He’s quite withdrawn. Like, he’s lying down and doing some zooms and stuff but he’s not…[Read more]

If I am referring to the right item, that is only made of cardboard and sisal, which is rabbit-safe. Unless your rabbits like fabric specifically (since sisal is lighter), I would actually suggest just a plain cardboard cat scratcher for chewing– it will likely last longer. This does look fun though!

I got two rugs for my rabbits, and I’m pretty sure one of them would work. Not sure which would be better though. One also says made of unknown carpet remnants, so I don’t know. These are the links,…[Read more]
