It’s completely normal for there to be some steps forward and then back, so don’t despair! I think the use of the laundry basket post-fight was a good idea!
I would honestly just keep going as you have been, and try to increase the length of sessions as you can. I wouldn’t pause sessions unless a bun was injured.
So have they fought each night…[Read more]

They don’t look like dwarfs to me, but they could be false dwarfs. How much do they weigh?

Hi everyone!
I’ve been reading the forums for quite a while but this is my first post š
We have two bunnies, both were sold as Netherlands dwarfs by the breeder. Supernova is a black buck, currently 10 months old, Ginki is (as far as I know the color names) a blue harlequin girl, currently 8 months old.
They look very different, I assume…[Read more]

It’s really hard to say, but the one time Bun Jovi went into stasis our vet (very rabbit savvy) suspected that ingesting too much hair was the issue in his case as well (he was molting, and when he finally started pooping again there was a lot of hair coming out).
I agree that the vet should have kept him until he stabilized, especially with such…[Read more]

I’m sorry this happened to you and your bun. You undoubtedly saved him by taking him to the ER vet.
This could have started as a gut slowdown, causing a “hairball” to form and block up the intestine. Rabbits are normally capable of passing hair, they always get some hair in them when they groom themselves. If the gut slows down though, hair and…[Read more]

Hi all, I was hoping to get some opinions on what could have caused the downward spiral Elmer went down yesterday/today.
First for background, I noticed Saturday night he refused his treat which has never happened. He seemed to start being normal and I thought he ate it a little later (in retrospect could have been Ruby). He was eating hay and…[Read more]

And right after I posted this Tipper groomed Sweetie for almost a minute.
Itās hilarious because he tries to play it off like heās grooming himself and then licks her head between his paws. He also used her head as a foot rest so he could clean his foot 😂 but she didnāt seem to mind.
They both just seem so stubborn and I do feel that Sweet…[Read more]

And – after they fought I took them in a walk around the house in their dreaded laundry basket and took them back to the āneutral area.ā Tipper eventually gave Sweetie a couple of licks on the nose.
unfortunately, Iām so on edge from them getting into fights that I started to make a noise when he put his head over hers to kiss her and maybe inter…[Read more]

Hi again – so after the encouraging long date on Saturday, Sunday and today the bunnies got into a fight (once each night) – I caught it quickly but I donāt understand what is going on with the backwards slide 😕
They actually seem more relaxed around each other now; Tipper is less nippy and seems more content to lay down / eat/ run around S…[Read more]

BZOO you are practically Dr. Doolittle! š
Not many people would respond happily if a rat ran up their leg in a park, lol! (But if it was obviously domestic I may have done the same, I know they are wonderful pets!)

Poor baby š
I agree with Wick that this could be dental, especially given the timing with the tooth filing. There could also be something like an abscess that formed around the tooth that’s pressing on sinuses and causing issues.

Hi Wick & Fable!
Thank you very much for the reply and insight. I learned about the culture searching the site for answers a few weeks ago. In sharing it with theĀ vet she felt the tests are often inconclusive and didnāt recommend it strangely. We tried switching her to azithromycin and she went into stasis immediately. (She clearly didnāt like…[Read more]

Is a culture and sensitivity test an option? Outside of this, you can also take an x-ray to see if perhaps something else is causing the discharge instead of a URI (for example, sometimes it can actually be dental-related, due to teeth roots).
I would do a warm, damp towel to soften it up and see if you can gently remove it. If your rabbit will…[Read more]
