Thank you all for the replies! It is good to know why my bunnies look the way they are 🙂 I love them though, it doesn’t matter if they are true or false 😛
Thank you for the kind words Hazel. Nova got 3 shots which meant 3 visits to the vet. He hated it, and he still runs away kicking when he sees the carrier XD We are in the process of…[Read more]

Yes it’s Timothy based pellets, it’s advertised that it has no seeds but it does, even some sharp woods. Which is why I’m no longer buying them.
the new pellets are advertised for young rabbits but it says it’s supposed to be for rabbits under 1 years of age. it’s alfalfa based, so maybe that’s why he’s having diarreah? his current diet…[Read more]

So, it could be that the space is becoming less and less neutral, especially if they are peeing on the blankets and you aren’t replacing them. I think either swapping the towels or washing them between would be a good move.
It also could be that maybe they aren’t quite ready for super long sessions. Or a combo of the two! Is there a brand new…[Read more]

Yes, I think going to a straight 1/4 cup of the new pellets was too much all at once. But it’s good that his poops are improving. At this point, I probably wouldn’t bother reintroducing the old pellets. At 7 months he is also almost done growing, so you can start feeding him a more adult diet with fewer pellets.
If he’s eating plenty of hay, I…[Read more]

So after this morning’s scuffle, they went back to seemingly being pretty chill – then towards the end of the day they got into two more bunny tornados 😢😢😢 which I’m assuming were Tipper being territorial over most of the area they’re in – he would be grooming her in the corner she’s been sitting in, but then when she’d hop around it seemed li…[Read more]

That was supposed to go to Wick & Fable.
He started off 3/4 cups old and 1/4 cups new. Now I realize that may have been too much maybe?

The old pellets are Premium Rabbit Food Pellets from small pet select and new one is Oxbow Essentials Bunny Basics Young Rabbit Food pellets.
Today he hasn’t had diarreah, hopefully it stays like that.
If I were to get a hold of the old pellets, it will arrive in days. So I’m wondering if it will make any difference if I were to do buy old one…[Read more]

She does fit the color pattern for the “charlie” gene that’s associated with megacolon. It can tend to start really causing issues around 3-4 years in severe cases.
If you haven’t found this page already, this page has a lot of good info on megacolon, including special diets that seem to help (although a bit unorganized):…[Read more]

Thank you all for taking an interest, I will give what info I can here.
First off, I don’t know the name of the medication I opted not to try.
Second, while she may be fluffy too, she def is of healthy weight, appetite, and attitude.
Third, The vet believed she had mega-colon from the start. Very large poops, but until the last year, no…[Read more]

EXCITING NEWS!
https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/AHFSS/Animal_Health/RHD.html
Looks like the US produced vaccine will be available very soon! This is really important news because it means that vaccination should be available more readily very soon!
I think CA kind of jumped the gun on announcing this but the vaccine won’t be restricted to just CA usage.

Firstly, thanks so much for all of the resources! I agree, chewing/biting is a natural behavior and I don’t want to punish her for that. My main concern is that I just don’t want her teeth to be damaged because of it. I think she gets frustrated that she cannot be out of her x-pen all the time, so I’ll give the bedsheet method a try.

There have been a few threads on going pellet-free over the years. The key is to providing a wide variety of veggies and really doing your homework on the nutrients contributed by each one. I’ve heard anywhere between 10-17 as the minimum of different greens and herbs per day, and a variety of grass hays, which is hard for many people to provide…[Read more]

Thank you both for the thoughtful replies!
After doing some research today I was also wondering about parasites and I’m going to ask the vet about fecal testing tomorrow.
Yesterday’s bloods came back with slightly elevated white blood cells and the same level of slight anaemia. Our normal vet supposed there could be some kind of infection, but…[Read more]

Yes hides can cause issues sometimes! Sometimes they help, sometimes they hurt (especially if one buns feels cornered), so there’s a bit of experimenting that happens. I’ve found they can help in cases where one bun is getting chased a lot because it can help break up the line of sight and end the chase, but when both want to be in the hide it…[Read more]
