Bow Tilly started the topic One Bun Has Passed, Should We Adopt & Bond The Bun Left Behind? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 10 months ago

Hello everyone, firstly apologies if this post is in the wrong forum. I wasn’t sure whether to post here or on Rainbow Bridge. We’ve lost one of our bonded girls and we’re wondering whether we should adopt another bun for the girl who’s been left behind.

Nia and Ta are 5 years old and have never spent a day apart. They are spayed house bunnies…[Read more]

Obviously, this isn’t ideal. But it is better than having them fight or mate (if it turns out there is one of each sex). They should be kept separate until they can be spayed (and/or neutered). Once that is done and they are healed, you should be able to bond them properly. This will also cut down on aggressive behavior toward your cat. As long as…[Read more]

Most people don’t use a liner in the litter box. The litter itself should be sufficient in soaking up any liquid.

It doesn’t look like it is an emergency… but I agree with Dana that this may need to be addressed by a vet. If there is a lump there, that would suggest it isn’t a simple case of a sore hock. Wick is correct though, pressure sores can develop on the front feet.

Happy spooktober everyone! Here is a creepy-lit photo of Wick and Fable, haha. For those not familiar with my pair, they are a ‘one-sided’ bond, where Fable loves Wick, but it is not mutual. Wick is restricted to a small space due to a paw injury, so they will not be bonded for a very long time, if ever.

I, as well as many others don’t actually line litter boxes — I may spay the bottom with vinegar and wipe it after a short soak occasionally if it seems it needs it.

There was fur all of the floor from their circling. But I don’t think either is injured. I have a camera that I’d been checking on them throughout the night since they were together. I happened to catch their fighting last night.

my goal for now is them being comfortable as neighbors.

Was either bunny injured? If not, then hopefully things will be salvageable. I think it was very good that you were there to break up the fight.

I think it would be best to just let them cool off and take things one step at a time! Especially if hormones are at play, things could change a lot for the better with some time.

Bald patches are definitely normal. I think they stand out more when a rabbit has white fur because the skin in pink.

I just typed up a reply to Wick&Fable and repeat myself a bit here.
yes it is the new girl who got spayed just over a month ago. My male was done in July. I also figured that things went so well starting from the beginning might be due to the new girl not showing her “true” self yet. My male was automatically in the lead since he’d known the routi…[Read more]

I am very scared now because they had been very well (cuddling and grooming) in the same setup with the same routine for the past 3 nights without any problems. On the 4th night they just broke up bad. I will take that they might be still freshly fixed since the girl was just spayed on 8/21. Another thought I have is that the new girl was skittish…[Read more]

One of my buns got a small abscess on her foot from where she may have gotten poked by hay or something similar. It did need some vet attention (they cleaned it up and wrapped it), but it healed well.

Since it seems swollen and is a squishy lump, I’m sorry to say I would probably take him to the vet.

I agree that things likely progressed a bit too fast, especially if the new girl was too shy to behave normally in her new space. I’m really sorry this happened though, sometimes things can go really smoothly at first and then it is so stressful when it goes downhill.

If the female was only spayed a month ago (not sure which was which), it’s…[Read more]

In the main “challenge” trial of 105 rabbits none of them had any serious side effects (no deaths), and had 100% protection from RHDV. I think 2 rabbits had minor swelling at the injection site and some mild fatigue, which sounds similar to the other vaccines from Europe.

So yes it sounds very safe and effective!
