Slush started the topic Ear infection + weight loss in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 2 months ago
Hi.
I have a 6 going on 7 y/o dutch female who is behaving like a healthy, active rabbit. Even the vets are confused. She had an ear infection, now treated and clear. One side of her mouth dropped somewhat, I thought due to the ear infection. She has history with spurs and so because she had some I was advised a dental so teeth have been taken…[Read more]

Hi there, I recommend reading up a bit more on the bonding process. Here is a good starting point:
https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/bonding/
First you need to let the new bunny settle in for about a week or two without interacting with the other bun. You should have their pens set up side by side so they can start to get to know each other.…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic How to set up space to continue bonding in a new place? in the forum BONDING 1 year, 2 months ago
In the new place, I would set them up side-by-side in the room where they will be let out to exercise, and reserve another area (or multiple areas) of the house for bonding. The exercise space won’t be neutral because it will be close to their home pens. Do not let them out to exercise at the same time in the area near their pens, but alternate…[Read more]

Sometimes with bonding there are steps forward and back, so yes this can be normal. How many hours were they together when the fight happened? Did you see what triggered the fight?
I have found that adding litter boxes can cause issues, so I usually don’t add a litter box at all until sessions are very long (like 6 hours +), and I just put pee…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Helping a bun cope + getting him friendlier? in the forum BEHAVIOR 1 year, 2 months ago
I think in your situation continuing to spend as much time as possible with him is the best you can do. Keep a close eye on his eating to make sure he doesn’t go into stasis from depression. Bringing him in would be ideal, so he could spend more time with you but as you mentioned that’s not an option right now.

I’ve been posting about Smore’s situation for a while. He had flystrike and he seemed to be improving. He seemed fine and I was watching him so diligently but sadly he crossed the rainbow bridge.
He and his brother, Biscuit, were outdoor bunnies, I was going to make them indoors after Smores healed and got the supplies. I was keeping biscuits…[Read more]

So happy!!
Boo let me pet her for about 30-45 seconds! Doesn’t seem like much, but for us, it’s huge. I’ve never gotten so much as one second unless I’ve had to “torture” her for nails or vet trips.
She has come so far from that poor, frightened rabbit. Patience is key.

So I did as you suggested and increased the x pen to full size. I put a new litter box and hidey in as well and things have been going well until last night. Last night my female attacked my male and I had to break it up. I calmed them down and it was fine, until she mounted him and when he nipped her for it, she attacked him again. I calmed them…[Read more]
