Felicity0118 replied to the topic Bunny has excess urine? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 2 months ago

    Hiya

apologies on a bit of a crusade as I didn’t consider EC. I got my bunny about a year and a half ago and he always drank loads! Recently (5 months – I should’ve done something sooner 🙁 ) he’s been  peeing outside of his litter box but is overall very healthy so I didn’t think much of it, but it’s got worse so I took him to the vet yesterday…[Read more]

    Hi all!

thankyou for being Here in a time of need. So background is I got Dave from a rescue in September 2022 he was about two years old at the time.

At the time when I rescued him, he drank and ate so much when he came home and I just thought that was normal for him.

He bonded with my bunny perfectly and everything’s been great since. R…[Read more]

Thank you. We are spoiling her rotten with various treats and.such with our fingers crossed that something puts the weight on. It’s just so hard knowing we could also be triggering gut stasis with all the different goodies. Bunnies are so complex.

We have everything crossed with the bloods though and I will update here as soon as I find anything out

Just a heads up! My bunny came from a rescue and he drank LOADS! Fast forward a year and a half, lots of peeing and took him to the vets yesterday and he had a seizure 🙁 please consider EC as polydipsia is a symptom, just sharing as I feel so guilty I didn’t even look at EC beyond head tilting

Please consider EC, my bunny had the same and I thought uti so thought he’d improve, but it’s gotten worse so took him to vet yesterday and he had a full seizure 🙁 please get some panacur just in case 🙂

Hiya my bunny has been having accidental pees and I didn’t think much of it (behavioural uti etc) but it’s got worse so I went to vets and he had a full blown seizure 😔 now we think it’s EC, and I am gutted, I ignored his accidents for 5 months when the whole time he’s had this, so please consider EC and get some panacur just in case 🙂

Ironically I’ve just come back from the vet (EC 😔) and I mentioned about my buns history in that he sneezed a lot and then I quit vaping and it stopped, vet said it’s not toxic but clearly was aggravating his nose, so agree one off is fine but long term you feel like a monster for making your rabbit sneeze constantly &#x…[Read more]

I’ve never caught a wild rabbit myself, but I’ve heard it can be tricky. You’re doing the right thing by contacting a rehab place and getting a trap. Kale and carrots should work great as bait. Just stay calm and move slowly to avoid scaring the little guy.

Sounds like Luna is quite the trooper! It’s so puzzling when they’re losing weight despite acting all happy and healthy. You’ve done the right thing by getting her checked and sending off bloods.

Hopefully, those results will shed some light. In the meantime, maybe try giving her some extra nutritious treats to help with the weight? Fingers cross…[Read more]

    Hi

Thank you so much for your response. I was giving her recovery food, it made no difference and I was advised to stop to ensure she keeps eating hay. We are giving her a more variety of foods to keep encouraging eating as well. We are waiting for blood results I believe EC is included in the tests.

Poop is fine, I’m seeing her drink and use…[Read more]

Interesting! Pellets can definitely be a trigger, sometimes they just make the buns too excited. The attack during the petting is interesting. I wonder if maybe she just got confused? Buns can’t see very well right in front of them, so perhaps she mistook you petting him for him lunging at her? No way to know for sure, unfortunately.

    Patience and…[Read more]

You should start to support feed her as soon as possible. Moderator Dana has used Emeraid recovery food for her buns in the past, it seems rabbits like that recovery formula. Critical Care (Oxbow) seems less popular with rabbits, but it’s a very good product and some buns will eat it from a plate if you mix it with something yummy, like canned…[Read more]

Hi all, thank for responding and apologies for not coming back to check sooner. The issue is I can’t get help since it’s not always in my yard so I don’t have anyone who can rush over on a dime. I think the xpen would be really difficult by myself. I have a firepit in the yard with overgrown grass around it and it likes to go there. It’s been…[Read more]

The fight broke out as I was petting them. She pulled away and so I was just petting my male when she attacked him. She also attacked him today when I sprinkled a few pellets into their hay. So I’m wondering if she’s just being possessive? A sign of dominance? It doesn’t seem to be the litter box as they will share it no problem. My male was free…[Read more]

triangulumlock replied to the topic How to set up space to continue bonding in a new place? in the forum BONDING 1 year, 2 months ago

Given your move to a larger place, here’s a thought: start by setting up separate pens next to each other so they can see and smell each other without direct contact. Continue with the supervised common area time to encourage positive interactions. This way, they can get used to the new space and each other at their own pace. Gradually, you can t…[Read more]

triangulumlock replied to the topic 2 month old female bunny not sure if need vet or if just her lady bits in the forum DIET & CARE 1 year, 2 months ago

Sounds like your girl is doing great otherwise, but the red, swollen butt might be worth checking out. Sometimes, diet changes or stress can cause irritation. Since she’s new to solid foods, that could be the culprit. However, if it doesn’t improve soon, or if she seems uncomfortable, a quick vet visit might be the best move to make sure it’s n…[Read more]
