Yes, cats are true carnivores. They can’t not eat meat. They can develop serious medical problems and deficiencies if not given a proper diet. So if you are not comfortable feeding them what they need, then they may not be a good pet for you.

Thank you so much! That was a lot of info, just what I needed! I don’t quite need a cuddly animal, I just want to know which one will most likely want to accompany me and spend time with me. So I do think getting a cat may be better for me personally. But I also have to consider the fact that I’m vegetarian, so I might want to get a bunny. But…[Read more]

Yes, I totally agree with you! Thank you so much! I do feel like cats would maybe be better for me currently, and I might adopt a kitten now!

Thanks so much! Yes I agree, I don’t exactly need a cuddly pet I just want a companion that’ll want to spend time with me, so I think cats might be a better chance. But even if they’re not affectionate, its okay I’ll still love them!

So I have a Flemish giant rabbit, unneutered male, he keeps spraying me, popping everywhere even when I put his litter box near him. He rubs everything, bit the heck out of my arm while trying to pet him, he constantly thumps loudly at nighttime when we are all asleep, I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m a first time rabbit mom, and I have to say…[Read more]

My dog is a chihuahua. Bonbon is bigger than he is. Also he isn’t trying to play, he just was sniffing. When I’m not there, my dog is crated because he chews things up. My cat has no interest in the bunny, it’s just my kitten who’s trying to play, and again, Bonbon is bigger than he is. If anyone was a danger to another, I would say it would be…[Read more]

They are not event comparable.
I have two cats & I’ve had a group of 4 rabbits; currently just the one rabbit of the group left. Neither of my cats are the same, and every single one of my rabbits had totally different personalities.
all are a lot of work: both ideally should have company of their same species. For cats, outdoor cats are not s…[Read more]

You really need to keep your dog away from your bunny. Please remember dogs are predators and rabbits are prey, and often dogs “playing” can lead to a rabbit getting killed. Your bunny needs a completely safe space where the cat and dog cannot get to them. Does the cat have to stay in your room all the time? It would be best if the cat could be…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Male / male help please in the forum BONDING 1 year, 2 months ago
It seems to work best to have both bunnies living side by side in the same area during the bonding process, making sure they can’t nip each other through fencing or jump into each other’s areas. Then you swap who’s on which side every day or two. You can let them out to exercise at different times.
And for actual meetings between them, they…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Small poops in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 2 months ago
My guess is that she’s eating less hay, it can be harder to keep track in bonded pairs. In my experience that seems to be the most tied to poop size. It could be a symptom of of something more acute, but is she showing any signs of arthritis? Sometimes they can start getting arthritis in their jaw and will eat less hay. It could be time to put her…[Read more]

LOL glad she snapped out of it! I would have done the exact same thing (some critical care and simethicone), often that’s all that’s needed to snap them out of a little gassy episode.

I have both! My experience is that all bunnies and all cats are different, but more of my cats have been cuddly, if that makes sense? It feels very special to be trusted by a rabbit, but in most cases they don’t like to be held or on your lap. Most rabbits like to be on the ground near you and get pets that way. Sometimes it can take them a very…[Read more]
