Unfortunately this doesn’t sound like something simple that can be treated at home, since you already tried cutting out veggies.
Can you post a picture of the poop? True diarrhea is an emergency, whereas excess or mis-formed cecotropes is less urgent. Does she ever have normal poops?

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I have been asking myself many of the same questions about my 13 year old bunny. He is very old and either has severe arthritis, EC, or both, which has several limited his mobility and is creating other issues. We’re currently trying to treat the EC just in case, but not sure if that is even the issue.
One…[Read more]

You can actually do unlimited timothy hay rather than alfalfa hay as long as you also provide alfalfa pellets. It’s often easier to transition buns to timothy when they have had it from a young age, and as long as they get alfalfa in the pellets they don’t need two sources.
No treats or veggies for now. Veggies can be very gradually introduced at…[Read more]

It was kind of you to try to help this rabbit, I’m sorry it didn’t survive. Be extremely careful to decontaminate everything that contacted this rabbit, as blood coming out is a symptom of RHDV (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus). It is highly contagious and resistant to most forms of disinfection.
Here is some info about it:…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Potty Problems in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 10 months ago
Could you just move his box back to its old place? Rabbits like to potty in a specisl place, so when you want to move a litterbox, you should do it very slowly and gradually, no more than a couple of inches/day. Otherwise the bun might just go potty in the old location and never mind the box.
I think he will get used to your new room set-up, but…[Read more]

I went home for the Weekend and brought my bun Howard with me. The drive is less than two hours, and he does very well in the car. When I brought him back to my apartment, I decided to rearrange the bedroom and moved his potty to the other side of the room; along with moving every other piece of my furniture. I now recognize that was a mistake…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Is it ok to freeze apple branches? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 10 months ago
If you have enough room in your freezer it’d be an excellent way to keep them fresh. My bun will eat them dried. I got heaps last winter when a friend had her apple trees prune. They kept for months on the balcony, but eventually they dried.

Hi fellow bunny lovers,
My sister and brother in law occasionally come over to help me with yardwork and yesterday decided to trim all of the small branches from my apple tree without realizing I use them for my two furry friends. I managed to salvage most from the bin they were stuffed in but now I have to find a way to keep them fresh long term…[Read more]

The places that once provided free or reduced vet care were charities but are not being funded anymore under this government we have so charities have to rely purely on donations from the public and because they don’t have enough funds they have to cut services and are being told by the government they have to run more like a business than a…[Read more]

The whole country has gone to pot in so many aspects of life in general. It would be wonderful if I could get free vet care, rabbits aren’t apart of that anymore. I think people with dogs and cats can still get it although I wouldn’t be surprised if that had stopped for them as well. I’m willing to pay much more for vet care than I expected for…[Read more]

In my opinion, when you know this is ultimately where you are headed, going out on a good note is definitely preferable than waiting too long.
I’ve been on both sides of it.
Hugs to you and your bunny.

Thank you. What about treats? Green veggies? Non-green veggies? At what point can I introduce those to a bunny and about how much?

That’s amazing, so good to hear that Nellie is making so much progress!
Good luck at the V-E-T, and I’m hoping that they won’t give you bunny butt 😉
Owen and Molly had some really cute weeks together, and then something happened that made them fall out again and again. Molly still tooted and sprayed urine while they were together, so we gave…[Read more]

Thought I’d update that we ended up finding a vet that takes in injured and sick wildlife but she had a heart attack and died while being evaluated. Blood came out of her when she was gone and they suspect she had a severe infection. Not the ending I was hoping for but at least she’s at peace now.
