Did the vet ever diagnose your Bun? I have a senior rabbit so reading up in case this ever happens to him. Hope it turned out to be nothing and he is fine!

I have a senior Bun (12-13 yo mini Rex mix) that I just started feeding Oxbow Senior (per my small animal vet) as he is losing weight. Wish I would’ve known to do this sooner; you are smart to start early! I’m looking for ANYTHING to put weight on him so reading up on this post… I have heard about Emeraid as DanaNM mentions but my vet did not…[Read more]

Some of the aggression is sparked when I come into their room, but other times I can’t seem to find a pattern. It doesn’t seem related to any objects.
I did couples therapy in the bathtub, and they did huddle together and there was grooming from Eloise to Penelope, but not vice versa. It’s interesting that Eloise is doing a lot of chasing, but is…[Read more]

Considering the initial vet visit only included a general physical, I do not think you need to worry about CHF at this time– The signs of CHF in rabbits (as noted on MediRabbit) are quite vague, so unless your rabbit has shown poor cardiac health in the past, I think it’s more likely to exercise other causes first, such as a choking episode that…[Read more]

Poor little guy 🙁
I don’t have any experience with congestive heart failure in buns, but I think getting some imaging is the correct next step. Some of the other moderators may have more insight.

Hello everyone, I need some help as I’m completely unsure what is going on with my little boy who is about 9 years old.
About a week and a half ago my little guy had a strange episode or fit that lasted about 5 minutes. During this episode he seemed panicked and disorientated while his posture changed to being almost completely on the floor,…[Read more]

One of my pairs has some food-related aggression, which is not uncommon. Once the food is down they share happily, and go back to cuddling and grooming each other after meals so I don’t worry about it too much.
I would start trying to keep track of when you notice aggressive behaviors, and whether they also have positive behaviors in between. If…[Read more]

Thank you for the reply!
I did remove the castle. I’ve had them for 3 weeks now. They were originally sharing everything, but when I saw that there was some fighting I added a second litterbox, and now there are also 2 food bowls and 2 water bowls. I took out hides originally, but last night took apart the castle and made it into 2 hides. They…[Read more]

I will add that while there is a likelihood it is ‘mating’-related, female rabbits will also circle and hump owner legs, typically in excitement. Regardless, neutering will be very beneficial for these urges. Whenever your rabbit-experienced exotic vet is comfortable doing so is fine, and especially compared to an invasive female spay, a male…[Read more]

Well, it is better not to have elective surgery during the hottest months, since risk of infection is higher in warmer weather. But a male neuter only leaves 2 very tiny wounds, so you have to weigh the pros and cons.
I’m not sure you risk him becoming aggressive, that’s mostly seen in dogs who are neutered after they’ve established a habit of…[Read more]

I’ll make sure to neuter him asap😭 I just didn’t wanna do it soon as I’m going to move cities in a month and I didn’t want him to go through stress during his recovery depending on how long it usually takes to recover from a minor surgery. I’ve been told it takes a few days or weeks maybe?
