I do think the best thing would be to cut out the gum. If its too close to the skin, you could wait. She will try to wash her face, the hair will grow and eventually be shed.
Ingestion of small amounts of gum is not harmful -rabbits can’t swallow big chunks of things, due to their anatomy they can only swallow what they’ve properly chewed. The…[Read more]

Kiki, Kaya & Simba started the topic Broken bond, never bonded or just normal behaviour ? in the forum BONDING 3 years, 7 months ago
Hi, I am new to bunny bonding, and I am stuck in a situation that I don’t know if it is normal or if they have lost the bond or had never bonded.
I have for more than a year two female rabbits: Kiki (2 years old and neutered) and Kaya (3 years old and neutered), they are mother and daughter. They came from the animal shelter together, eventually…[Read more]

Oh no! Bunnies can get themselves into terrible messes!
I’ve not come across this before so I can only provide suggestions. I’m not sure how chewing gum would affect the gut if accidently swallowed but I would keep a close eye and encourage lots of hay eating and drinking incase a little was eaten. As for the fur, is she long/dense furred? If she…[Read more]

So I have a Holland lop, about 2.5 years old, and she’s a MENACE. She got into my trash today and pulled out a chewed wad of gum, it was a small piece, and I pulled a ton out of her mouth and fur, so I don’t that she actually swallowed any, but like 90% of it is stuck in the fur around her mouth and I think in her cheek? I’m not sure about the…[Read more]

Rainn started the topic To Trim or Not to Trim? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 7 months ago
Hello, so the last time Rain had issues it was due to molar spurs. A few weeks after getting them trimmed she developed an abscess, either due to a preexisting infection or some scrape caused by surgical tools. Luckily, her abscess cleared up completely after weeks of draining and an injection of amikacin. It was incredibly lucky since many…[Read more]

Hi DanaNM,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and respond to my post! Buddy was taking 0.20cc (100 mg/ml) of Fenbendazole once daily for 28 days. He was on two rounds of Fenbendazole, once in September and once in November, with still no changes in his e cuniculi numbers. Our vet mentioned that depending on how severe the e cuniculi…[Read more]

Has anyone used the Canawick Hardwood pellets as litter? Or can they be used in a fireplace only?

Bam replied to the topic Alternative to paper bedding in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 7 months ago
I too use pine pellets. They are more absorbant than paper litter, but they compost a great deal slower, so they’re not a good option if you’re planning to dispose of the litter in a compost bin.
