That’s great! Thanks for the update and glad she snapped out of it!

I’m so sorry you are going through this, but please try not to panic! It’s true that megacolon rabbits often have shorter lifespans, but with a care plan they often do much better. Usually megacolon buns will need a motility medication daily, as well as a high calorie diet, such as supplemental feeding with critical care or another recovery food…[Read more]

Zooming.  Binkying.  Eating.  Pooping.  Getting into mischief.  Is there any sound lovelier than a bunny munching on some hay?

Maybe have a friend with a dog make a visits to your home before you travel.

Obviously, have rabbits in a pen or something and not an overly excited dog.

Could help get the buns used to the sight, smells and sounds of a dog.

I’m so sorry to hear that your family and rabbit are going through this. It would be helpful to know what you are presenting your rabbit with each day in terms of diet, just to rule-out if something in the diet may be causing ongoing GI distress.

If you hadn’t come across it already, the Wabbitwiki page on Megacolon is a helpful resource:…[Read more]

Hey guys, my six year old bunny Tramp is dealing with his third bout of stasis since August. Previously he has not been sick at all and after a bout he has during Thanksgiving, I started to do research on megacolon. We’re almost certain he has it based on his coloring and what his poop looks like, we’re even planning to take him in for testing in…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for the delay in your post’s publicizing! It was originally created in the Forum rules section and got lost — I’ve moved you into the BONDING section, since it’s more applicable for your situation. Thank you for your time and dedication to fostering.

It has been a bit of time since you composed this originally. How is the poop…[Read more]

    Hello bunny friends!

So, I am fosting to adopt a rescue holland lop doe to bond with my holland lop buck.  Both are spayed/neutered. Stew is 10 months old, free roam, and litter box trained. Polly is 11 months, I was told she is box trained, and I kept her in a 4′ × 4′ playpen for 15 days.

Those 15 days were some of the most frustrating but I t…[Read more]

As mentioned, it is actually very rare for such a thing to happen just from the mere presence/sound of a predator. Similar to what happens with fireworks and other stressful experiences, rabbits actually often adapt well (not enjoy it and may still have a degree of stress, but won’t be full-blown panicked) as long as they make the connection that…[Read more]

I called the vet — had to leave a message.  She’s eating a bit on her own now!  Fingers crossed.

Thanks so much, by the way.

If she is eating her greens and some hay again, I think it’s OK to monitor. I would just keep offering her as much as she will eat, even if it’s a bit more salad than she normally gets. If you have critical care or another recovery food, you can also offer her that (some bunnies love it and eat it willingly, mine especially love the Emeraid…[Read more]

Well, I changed her litter box only like two days ago, and I’ve been covering old poop with the bits of hay that fall into the litter box — that way I can tell which poops are new.  She did a normal amounts of poop in the night.  Thanks for the tip about the collard greens — she hasn’t had any problems with it before, but I’ll avoid it for n…[Read more]

Being a bit late to feed veggies would not cause stasis. Pooping out mucous indicates some irritation in the digestive tract.

Just to clarify the timeline here, how long has it been since she last ate something at all, and how long since she was normal? If it has only been a couple hours, it could be a bad bit of gas that she is working through…[Read more]

Happy to hear that they’re happy ^_^ From what I’ve heard grooming can be pretty one-sided in a stable bunny bond. If she’s not getting enough grooming you could help her out by extra brushing etc.

It depends a lot on the bunny too: Molly slobbers all over us while Owen has never given me a lick spontaneously. He reflex-licks if you scratch his…[Read more]

    Hello everybody,

I’ve been reading Binky Bunny forum like a maniac for about four or five years now — since a few months before getting a bunny, and then even more after having bunnies.  I’m in unpoop now, which is why I’ve finally made an account.  So here’s my trouble: my rabbit Muchness was spayed ten days ago (house rabbit vet, so no p…[Read more]
