Celia & Clover replied to the topic My bunny is trying to suckle on me?! in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years ago
I’m not sure at all, I’ve never heard of a rabbit trying to suckle. Any odd change in behaviour and I would be taking my rabbit to the vet if possible. Maybe Negan is sick? Particularly if she’s acting clingy…

I was able to find them on Amazon. They also might be available at some place like Target or similar?

If you’re feeding alfalfa-based pellets, it’s OK to feed a young bunny grass hay. They need the extra protein, etc. that alfalfa provides but doubling up isn’t necessary. A rich diet can create an excess of cecotropes, so it isn’t unusual to witness this in young bunnies.

Casper and Thumper started the topic Clarification on the safety of pine wood in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago
Okay so my rabbit Casper is HUGE chewer and I’ve tried almost every toy on the market for him, but the only ones he really enjoys are wood blocks. The problem is, the only wood blocks i can really find are almost all made of kiln dried pine. I really need to know if pine is safe if its kiln dried. I’ve asked around all over and i get answers…[Read more]

Celia & Clover started the topic Boyfriend wants the rabbits caged up, help! in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years ago
I moved in with my partner 4 months ago. I have two bonded rabbits who are litter trained, but still do 20 or so poops outside the litter box a day. The problem is we live in a sharehouse and the only place we can keep them is in our bedroom (3m²).
My boyfriend hates waking up in the morning and having to either deal with the poop until I wake…[Read more]

Alfalfa is for young rabbits that are still growing, as an adult he should be on timothy pellets and timothy hay (other grass hay like orchard is fine too). Alfalfa is too rich for adults, unless it’s a pregnant or nursing female.

Oh really? That’s interesting. Maybe I will cut out the alfalfa hay then since it’s in his pellets (he lovessss his pellets). Can I still give him the pellets that have alfalfa in them when he gets older though? Main part of his diet would obviously be Timothy hay..

Also should I give her some gas drops? To help with gas if she gets it from the antibiotic.

Lila W. started the topic Bunny is missing large chunk of hair from her back in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago
Our 5 year old female mini rex named Rosie is missing hair in a strange shape along her back and we don’t know why! We regularly pluck her loose hairs when she sheds so she doesn’t eat it of course, and a few days ago she had one on her back, so my sister plucked it. She said it created a strange circle of hair missing down to a fuzzy layer on her…[Read more]

Okay and I definitely agree she could be marking over-again but wouldn’t she pee when she’s out for playtime? Yes the pee is mostly outside of the litterbox.

I agree, it’s most likely because of the rich food. If he’s getting alfalfa pellets he doesn’t need alfalfa hay. In fact I would recommend not getting him used to alfalfa hay at all, it’s very hard to get them off of it later. 😉

@DanaNM I’m curious, what site did you find them on? I’ve been looking for them because I’m considering bonding my girl and those would be useful.

Agreed, you’ll want to reinforce with some smaller mesh until he gets bigger. Could use hardware cloth, chicken wire, or even these (my recent obsession): https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/nose-guards/
